Because the new person has no contribution to the team? Maybe that person is better than you at video games. Maybe you mess up get knocked off and have no contribution and the rest of the team carries you and clears the instance while you lie dead and do nothing.
We can go round and round all nite, thinking you're better than someone you know nothing about, is quite rude also.
Stopped reading right there. You got a bad group in Duty Finder and we are supposed to be surprised or sympathetic. Other than the main quests Duty Finder is optional and really isn't for progression, gearing or speed runs its meant for a way for casuals to see content and experience dungeons/raids. You are paid a bonus for putting up with newbs/scrubs and as a tank you are paid an even greater bonus. Either deal with it or stick to statics and premades.
Ahaha, so you think the average person can go into titan ex completely blind and make a valuable contribution to winning? You think someone going blind into Levi ex would not get knocked off? Being "good at video games" has little to do with it when the mechanics rely on you knowing what's coming.Because the new person has no contribution to the team? You think someone who watched videos till their eyes bled, won't get knocked off? There is no amount of video watching, guide reading, preaching, teaching, that will ever prevent that from happening. Like what was mentioned, one little hiccup in connection, you're dead. But people will immediately blame the player cause they didn't watch a video. Because we all know internet connections in this world are perfect everywhere. But hey atleast I watched a video, will you let me play now?Ahaha, so you think the average person can go into titan ex completely blind and make a valuable contribution to winning? Did I say that? No. But at least they would basically know what's coming! At least they made an effort! They didn't just turn up and basically say, hey, I didn't bother doing any research at all, please spend your free time explaining mechanics I could have had the decency to read up on myself!
What's the difference between watching a video and getting people in duty to explain stuff to you personally? TIME.
By not doing so you are basically saying your time is more important that that of seven other people.
And yeah, I think that's rude, so make some personal effort. I don't mind helping those who are trying and are willing to learn. Unfortunately the majority like to stay silent and pretend it's not them that's new.
Well, considering that the popular answer to, "I'm new, anything I should know?" is, "go watch a video" is it any surprise that people running new content not talk much? Yes, I've purposely said I'm new to test the waters in dungeons I'm running out of Roulette and that has been the majority response, people actually offering helpful advice is very far and very few between. And that's the nice responses. I've seen worse and it just makes me doubt the decency of other players. And then we get threads on the forums like these that serve only to drive in that point. I genuinely fear for new players coming in with Heavensward...
Like I said previously, dungeons are totally different IMO. In fact I like running dungeons with new people. HM primals too.
But ex primals and coil are optional content that's on a different level, and yes I believe it's simple politeness to prepare for that.
Of all the times I have asked for help, no one has ever replied "watch a video". Maybe people grumbled silently, I don't know, but people were very willing to explain things. With no attitude thrown in there. Maybe I just got lucky. Never has it taken more than a minute for someone to say how this or that works. So time never seemed to be an issue for those I have encountered. The best all around learning you get is from doing, not watching.
"So how's your new game?" "I don't know haven't played it yet, too busy watching videos about it" "Why don't you just play it and learn it?" "Oh yeah"
