If you at least understand the mechanics going into the fight, you are ahead of the majority of people who like to just go in blind and derp.Go and research learning styles, people are very different in how they learn best. Videos don't help everyone, aside the fact that they completely ruin the fun in things being -surprising and new-
Videos teach me nothing, and the few times I ever watched them, made things worse as the way I mange my camera is different, my preferred position any time it's not determined by a mechanic is different... (Boss the right, I move towards the camera for flank skills). I'm far from the only person to be like this.
Honestly, at times I wish I could rote memorise entire boss fights, but its simply not a thing I can do, it's largely reflex from memory.
Practical is the way I learn, usually quickly. Text guides help a little, but only so much. (I'll usually remember skillnames and a general idea of what they do etc.)
Those first groups to clear it weren't in DF. They were in a group with friends who all understood they were new and learning the fight. Once a fight has been out for a while and you are using DF with 7 strangers it is polite to go in knowing what you are doing instead of holding back 7 other players. And this is why I don't Duty Finder. It's like I'm the only one in my groups going in who doesn't actually expect a clear speedrun. If you can't be bothered to at least watch a short video or read about the fight, sure, w/e.
But if you don't even have the decency to announce to the group that you are new and have no idea what to do so people can give you a quick run down, you are going to cause everyone in the group head aches or be a complete carry.
Where would the world be without Youtube? Those first groups to clear it weren't in DF. They were in a group with friends who all understood they were new and learning the fight. Titan Ex has been my Achilles heel. So I watched the videos, I have studied the strats I have come very close to completing it. I can't get group to stay together long enough. We make progress, but people bail then other do not want to wait. I am often the last man standing now but I did have to turn performance stuff(graphics) down until I achieved well over 60 FPS because I would move before everyone, be farther out than everyone but I would get hit. This was very frustrating, because I have exceptional situational awareness.
Tell me more about the jumping and actions. Jump from inside and land outside the poop? Casting an instant spell as soon as I am out of the poop a good thing? The thing is I have no lag, I don't stutter, I run 40 FPS in Mor Dohna with max settings on everything. I hate having to turn stuff down just to try and get through Titan Ex(but I do). Titan Ex is only problem I have had in this game avoiding a mechanic. Titan Ex also has the worst behavior I have witnessed in game, people often bail after one failed try and no one wants to even wait to allow me explain things to new people, they just go.
People also frustrate me as well. Don't show up to this with 4k hp, you have to play too perfect and MP is too precious to raise you over and over. If you are person who struggles to learn mechanics this is one fight that you should watch the video a number of times. It is not fair to everyone else to wipe over and over because of you. I know certain people learn better from trying, I get that, but I call complete BS from the people saying there is no benefit to knowing what is going to happen in each stage by watching a few different groups do it via youtube. Knowing what is going to happen before it happens is the key to succeeding at these fights. When you are proactive rather than reactive is key.
TLDR If you are a monster player, fine go in blind. If you try it and ruin the experience of 7 other people go study and show up well above the minimum gear next time.
Since release, I've gotten in the habit of hitting a button as soon as I'm out of an AoE. Supposedly, this force updates your position and was a way to combat the initial delay of .3 that was present on release. The "I was out of that!" I think is less of an excuse and more of a complaint against the software not recognizing player movement in the expected manner. Fights like Titan Ex are not tolerant of lag.
One trick that a FC mate taught me - and this goes along with your "growth" mindset - is that if you make a sharp right angle and run parallel to the landslide or WotL immediately after exiting the ground AOE area, it forces the server to update your position faster than if you keep running in a straight line. I don't know whether it's true or not
Q20: Will we ever be able to send tells from within an instanced area?
A20: While the feature can be implemented, it’s currently masked. It’s currently masked because we would like to prevent players from harassing each other just because they know they would never party together in the future. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully as we move forward.
Elitist attitude at its finest. The irony here is that this game is very easy to play.If you can't be bothered to at least watch a short video or read about the fight, sure, w/e.

Also, might I enquire what you know of decency? You dont seem to know much about it.
It hasnt improved. Funny indeed. After coming to ARR from WoW I had to adjust quite a bit, the delay is that bad.

It very much has improved. Its still worse than other games, but the statistical delay between server pings was 3 times as far apart on launch as they are now.Elitist attitude at its finest. The irony here is that this game is very easy to play.

Are you sure you are not just measuring your personal experiences, or even hearsay? Because if the delay was 3 times as much as it is now, I'd personally have no window to get out of many aoe abilities at all.
Because as it is for some abilities the delay is a third or even half the actual casting time on the ability..
Its been acknowledged over the course of the game by Yoshida and been in patch notes, too lazy to look it up, I might be wrong on it being as much as 3 times as long, though. On launch the in built delay was 0.333 seconds which is a ridiculous amount, and made titan actually require you to know timings beforehand to dodge. After a fairly short amount of time they reduced that for Coil only, saying servers would be overloaded if they reduced it for everywhere else. Later they reduced it for dungeons outside of coil, and I believe we now have it reduced for overworld content as well. This is not based on my personal experience in the slightest.
Edit: Also a side note, a lot of people mistake the animation time vs cast time on whether they got hit by an AoE, since most games work differently than XIV on this. When the cast bar finishes, whether someone got hit or not is already decided, the animation time after the cast time has nothing to do with it. Not saying this is the case with you, just mentioning in case anyone reading this post didn't know.

The delays are bad, If I do not turn down my graphics to minimums, According to what I see, I am the first to move, I keep moving all the way to edge of the platform and I die out there. When I would ask other people, the would say it seemed like I moved late. I turned graphics way down and that changed, so I totally believe people who say they were out.
