OP, we told you that using DF Titan Ex was a bad example. You put something on the internet and people are going to make fun of it.

Hey I just wanted to say I'm Fan of this thread. It's very entertaining watching everyone "feel" . thank you. Sorry for the interruption.
What, people read Titan Ex and lose their minds? Purrfect could have used T9 as an example as well and the same point would be still valid. This thread is 18 pages long and some people still fail at understanding the core issue.
It's not about the lag in a certain fight guys.

Lol how dare you excess reading comprehension on the ffxiv forums. We sir only read till we find something we disagree with and argue to the end. Reguardless if by reading the entire post it would all make sense and be clear. What, people read Titan Ex and lose their minds? And what do you mean it's not about lag. I personally read her say lag. I throw my glove at you. Because this is very serious.
Fite me.
Most people don't disagree with the OP's. I don't disagree with the OP's, point. The fact remains is 1) the OP hasn't said ANYTHING that wasn't said before, 2) the OP made her point poorly, and 3) OP is apparently new/inexperienced to internet posting (although I could be completely wrong about that last one). The argument is supposed to be how players shouldn't leech off of others and actually try to PLAY the game instead of having other people play for them. The problem is that attitudes in MMO being the way they are, FF in particular is that fostering a positive attitude to help reinforce good player habits is a lot harder to do and since people generally demand immediate gratification and flock to the path of least resistance, it's kind of a hard thing to do. The OP pretty much knew, at least on a subconscious level, that people were going to jump on the bandwagon and say "me too, people are scrubs" regardless of how she made said point. If she were to say, defend the laggers/noobs/scrubs, etc. people would still bandwagon for her. None of that is the OP's fault, because its better to be well respected than be popular.
Some things bear repeating or can be said in a different/better way.
Maybe I could've done better but I think many people get it. The quote was just a hook, nothing more, and Titan EX was used as an example because it's the most frequent place players claim to have been "out of that." Some think it's a bad example because people have real issues with the fight (i.e. are not lying about lag). However, I never said I doubted their claims or that their issues weren't real. I just said that players will kick players like that or abandon the duty. If you can't stay alive, you're a liability, it doesn't matter why.
Nah. I just like debating maybe
Well, that's part of the argument. The other part is that if players don't want negative outcomes (getting insulted, getting votekicked, or having the group disband, for example) there are things they can personally do to minimize this; some nastiness is unavoidable (it is the internet) but it's not completely out of a person's control. The same goes for actually beating the content: if you die right off, you're banking all your hopes on other people, if you work on improving yourself you gain some control over your chances and increase your odds.
I don't watch videos before I do any content in FFXIV. The furthest I'll go is looking up the best places to do LeveQuest at a certain level or where else I might find an item thats expensive on the MB. I have absolutely ZERO desire to go watch a YouTube video of someone completing a part of the game.
You might as well hire said streamer/YouTuber to play the game for you. It's the newer generation of gamers IMHO opinion without trying to offend who are seriously into watching content done before they actually attempt themselves. I could give leeway if you are stuck on a part and have genuinely exhausted your own knowledge to complete.
But you get no points from me if the first thing you do is look up content for handholding walkthroughs. It just seems so counterintuitive to gaming and challenging ones own skill.
To each there own but when folks talk about looking something up before I attempt or asking if I've watched a video I just 'LoL' with a No and that I'm not going to.

There's a difference between going into content blind with people who are also going into it blind (or know you are) and going into content blind with 7 random people. There is a level of expectation in DF for hard content, you will cause many many wipes by just going in completely blind and people are going to get sick of that when you could've just read a guide before going in. If you want to experience a fight first hand without needing a guide to tell you what to do, make a PF stating as such or go in with friends you know. Don't expect 7 random people to teach you the fight or put up with you, it's just not how things work.

You could say the same to people who want a one shot kill. Besides almost every PF group I see with a new player pointing that out are almost always empty.
