it's very unlikely for paladins to get esuna as they have tempered will. since it's already stated that they will get a new combo, and that jobs get new skills every 5 levels, it's safe to assume that what's being addressed for heavensward is an offensive alt to halone combo. that we might get a more potent healing/raising spell within the next expansion after hw. the current mitigation skills we have feels already complete with the exception of a superman button that makes us resistant to all negative effects for the next 10 sec.

    Divine oath.

Swaps current physical weapon damage to magic damage and current STR and MND.
    Grants enhanced raise trait.

Another oath so there is one for each aspect of the paladin, sword oath for damage, shield oath for defense, divine oath for magic.

If they go that route, i'd like Oaths to be off the Global cooldown and not interrupt combos.

Somewhat agree. It would be interesting if they didn't interrupt combos, so could swap to sword for rage of halone then swap back to shield oath. But being on the global cooldown in my opinion makes them a lot more readily available for stance dancing than if they were off the global cooldown and had a recast. Maybe an mp cost decrease but I don't think I'd want them off the GCD.

You could make a game where all you did was run through fields of flowers holding hands and you'd still get a guy telling you you're doing it wrong.

My line of thought was OGC, but they could retain a cooldown as short as the global cooldown or shorter. Mainly just so i can weave a stance change between actions. They'd still be readily available, but are far less intrusive on what I'm doing. They also wouldn't share a cooldown, so switching to Sword oath would put it on cooldown, but Shield oath is already ready to go when I want to switch back.

I would like the idea of a divine oath but i would tweak it in the sense that it fairly increases the potency of cure, applies regen, increases the enmity generated by healing spells cast under oath, and grants an additional 20 potency attack for each action taken while it continuously drain mp. it automatically deactivates when you're out of mp.

This kind of goes beyond the parameters of the idea, if you want to generate enmity you use shield oath, if you want to deal damage you use sword oath, if you want to recover health you use divine oath. Only thing that would fit that picture would be increasing cure potency, and with the magic damage and MND swap I don't know how necessary that would be. Your cures would definitely be weaker than a white mages but you'd probably be getting more out of them than a BLM or SMN does.

This would unbalance the oaths. Defiance is off GCD because when you turn it off you drop your health by 25%, turning that off and on again you need a cure to make up what you've lost. If a PLD could dance between sword and shield oath within 1 second they would lose a portion of the "penalty" that comes with swapping. On GCD if you swap to sword you're stuck in that stance for at least a GCD where you're 20% more vulnerable. If it was off GCD, you could swap to sword, spirits within and rage of halone and swap back to shield before the mob even knew what hit it.

Do note that people are able to tank and maintain considerable amount of hate even in Sword Oath as Halone combo still has additional enmity generated even outside Shield Oath. Shield Oath, on the other hand, is when everything is going fine and you just want to maximize on the threat generation without giving too much headache to your healers due to the reduced damage taken. Besides, what I propose in this version of oath is that it is not intended to be a set and leave oath as like BRD's songs, it continuously consumes mp. This also encourages people to use Riot Combo more to regain from it.

I laugh at all of you suggesting a higher mp cost for an in-battle raise. How much do you want it to cost, it is already half our natural mp, so you want us to start stacking piety to be able to stance dance and flash and raise? Please, more mo for an in-battle raise is a joke.

Considering I was the only one who said it, I figured that it's a simple balance fix for lowing the cast time. Since you guys have Riot Blade I figured a quick expenditure of a lot of mana to save an emergency situation would be balanced, just as long as you had some left over and didn't have your tank drained.
