My guess is that Sold/Poet tomes will be phased out for Law/Esoteric tomes regardless of whether or not you have the expansion, but not able to convert old tomes or redeem the new ones until 3.0 is registered.hint... despite the fact that this game is amazing, not every will necessarily get Heavensward and they will still need content to do. Odds are no none of the current content will go away. Soldiery and Poetics will probably still exist for people without heavensward (at least for a bit in all likelihood)

1. Not everyone is willing to get FFXIV:HW as it launches, so they will be playing the FFXIV:ARR.
2. Two new Allagan Tomestones will be introduced: Law (unlimited) & Esoterics (capped). Not sure if Soldiery will be removed in favour of making Poetics (unlimited).
3. ARR will play as it is now.. they will be stuck as of 2.55, unless they get the Expansion pack.

What the OP is explaining isn't quite clear as what actually happened. The BC expansion of WoW was removed because the most recent expansion retcons what happens in said BC expansion. It was removed entirely for the sake of the games ongoing story. OP makes it seem like they removed the content to spite newcomers, while yes there are those who got to experience it, storywise it is just rewritten.

Beast Tribes will remain as it is now + they add 2 more Tribes for Heavensward areasIt is normal leading up to an expansion that we start looking excitedly towards what we will gain in the game, all the new stuff that will become available to us, but after seeing how a certain really big MMO has handled expansions in the past, most notably its most recent one I just have to ask - what will be removed from the game with Heavensward?
Will the Beast Tribe quests remain in place, so we can farm those mounts and minions?
Will the story in Coil be considered over and done with, with the raids removed to keep the current T13 farmers feeling special for being able to clear it when no one else could?
Will our achievements, particularly the ones building towards rewards like titles and minions, be reset or removed?
Will Triple Triad be expanded, or left as it is today? It's sufficiently new that I don't think it will be removed yet.
Will the (Augmented) Ironworks gear remain available? Will we be able to farm Poetics as an old currency to obtain it?
What of the current Relic quests - and relics, for that matter? Will they remain for people to go back and farm?
The old job-specific gear looks, ie. the i90 gear; will that still be farmable?
Does anyone know with certainty, not just a gut feeling that "They would never remove that!" whether these things will stay or be removed? Anything else I might have missed?
Coil considered done and will get nerfed (at least 20% echo lol)
Achievments as time shows will remain (look at Binding Coil or Garuda Ex)
Adding new TT cards they said already
Ironworks will remain as it is now (poetics) or moved to Hunt (more likely) ways to augment most def. remain same
Relic quest remain (Items drop may be Adjusted) future of Relics i wonder myself atm
The old job-specific gear looks, ie. the i90 gear; will that still be farmable? - Isn't it atm ? Doubdt in any changes
I stopped playing their game soon after Cataclysm was announced. I went back to XI because it was more friendly and I missed it.What the OP is explaining isn't quite clear as what actually happened. I did try to play WoW again after that for like 2 days and was shocked at what they'd done to the entire world. It did feel like everything I had accomplished was ripped out from under me. I've never gone back since.
They may have succeeded bringing in new folks by rewriting the story, but it killed it for many as well.

I may have come off a bit strong, I'm not defending WoW, I quit after Cata released as well. I was just pointing out that the OP may not know what exactly they were trying to say with that statement about WoW. Either way I don't think SE will remove any content simply because there wouldn't be a reason to, older MMOs with multiple expansions have all kept their old content.

the poetic gear will become dungeon reward in 3.0 just like the old ilvl 90 one. The rest will remain the same and with more of them to come in 3.0
the more I about the OP post, the more it look like the person have not follow the recently live letterWhat the OP is explaining isn't quite clear as what actually happened. Uh, when did WOW remove anything? Warlords takes place in an alternate timeline, everything in Burning Crusade is still there. All it means is that the timeline for a specific character gets increasingly anachronistic as they progress through different expansions, apart from the legendary quest in Mists they've not removed anything since Cataclysm revamped all the old world zones.

Remove probably wasn't the best wording, more like transitioned? As in the Dark Portal leads to Draenor now rather than Outlands. I was explaining that the OP believes Blizz just straight up got rid of expansion content, which is not the case at all.Uh, when did WOW remove anything? No, I am referring to Pandaria. Wrathion's legendary quest, which tied together all of "What's actually going on here?" at max level was removed. I would compare that quest line with the relic quest, which means that it's happened once with one company; by that logic it can potentially happen again with another company. What the OP is explaining isn't quite clear as what actually happened.
