Anyway. The bots are there.
And they are there because they get business.

Another thing to keep in mind is that RMT usually get names to send tells to from doing a check on who's in a zone. Usually they check only the crowded zones, so if you stay in Mor Dhona for a long time, or in the main cities, you're more likely to get spam. I seldom get spam, but when I do, it's always shortly after I've been in Mor Dhona for longer than a few minutes.
A lot of people (not everyone) complaining about RMT are also those who don't log off and/or go afk in Mor Dhona/Gridania/Ul'dah/Limsa for long periods of time.
The tells are bad enough. Lately it's been friend requests from level 1 character gil sellers. These you cannot just ignore - you must take action to reject the friend request and you can't just blacklist the sender - you must reject the invite TWICE then blacklist the sender, only to get another friend request a few hours later from yet another level 1 RMT with one letter changed in the same name.
I was kinda feeling this way yesterday when I logged in at 4pm after work excited to progress on the nexus portion of my second zeta weapon...
Fast forward to 12:14am that night... Then realised i had to wake up in 5 hours for work and I had been running Aurum Vale all day with no drop... Same dungeon all day, no drop.
It just made me pause for a moment and cry inside as well as feel very angry. I just wonder to myself, why THE F@CK is this part of the design of the game?!
I know I should have learned my lesson from my previous weapon farm, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Been on AV for almost 2 days. Its just wrong.
Yes I could have switched to another dungeon, but I'm stubborn first off and secondly I wanted to test if the game would seriously continue to screw me over and for how long. Needless to say the outcome proved that even though SEs message is to foster fun for its customers... SE has failed in this aspect in regards to relic grind. There's nothing fun about missing a damn drop after a whole day+ of the horror that is AV. Sadly I'm too far in to give up, so imma finish my weapon, bust seriously F@CK the dev that thought this design was a good idea.
Really, whoever you are, thanks for pissing me off. Hope you get that job as the main writer for the SAW horror film that you aspire to, since its obvious you delight in torturing ppl. Lmmfao!
(JK I LOVE YOU SE... *MURDER FACE*)

For the beginning I would love to say that I agree with all points you have made except one - the connection. Yes, I agree that I have 121 ms, while it is possible to have 30 ms (if they moved servers to Europe), but I am encountering no internet problems and limitations and if i had an internet problems, it was on my ISP side and I solved it.
I don't mind grind as I stated many times in other threads, I am Lineage II veteran and I was born in the deepest pits of grind but I don't agree that it is challenging. I would rather see more challenging duties in difficulty rather than in need to repeat them 100 times to get what I want.
I completely agree on the housing, there is nothing to add to it and I believe it is because of the other thing you stated - their hardware is probably outdated and as I heard they probably got it from 1.0 version. Unfortunately it seems that heads of SE don't want to allocate more money for FFxIV to get better server infrastructure even that the game is kinda succesfull. I think they need to realize that if they want to grow, they need to invest into better data storagement too (housing, inventory space, armoire etc..).
There is a few issues but I think that 2.0 was a learning curve with what players like and don't like. What to listen to and what to not take directly to heart from players. Looking at this game from 1.0 to last night when I last logged in, I'm not loosing faith but I'm seeing a system that they're trying to get use to, by keeping as many players as they possibly can.
A lot of the issues are reasonable so don't get me wrong, and I agree with a few of the points. I also got to remember that 2.0 for us is like 1.0 for this new team..they're learning, implementing where they can.
Same, I feel we have gotten really far into the ilv and away from gear pretty quickly. I think they were afraid that those who were from 1.0 might not give this game as long of a chance and instead pushed out new content to keep them happy. Problem is that the casual base get left behind or miss out on trying new jobs / gear. You didn't imply that the player base wouldn't like it, but I'll go ahead and say it, they might get upset. But then again when a child gets upset and wants something it's not always best to give it to them. Maybe I misread but I believe they're slowing things down, this could be wonderful. Old problems getting fixed, new content getting a bit more TLC and it's always nice to make the jobs of the wonderful people in the background a bit more breathing room.
It's both sometimes, but definitely not just you. I got my PS4, PC wireless in the upstairs. None of them loose connection, but for some reason my Samsung TV looses it all the time. Found out it was a firmware upgrade, still did it. Called TWC they reset connection, got better. I forgot to reset my devices. Things are a lot better, then I found they are going to do some work on the lines so there will be delays but things will get better. I feel it's both and sometimes there's nothing you can do right off the bat that doesn't involve using up large sums of $$ to physically fix it. Now it has to go through management, who are usually people who know dollar signs, want things quick and put out to them within 10 minutes because they got another situation and meeting to deal with. These aren't all the reasons / answers but just things I think about.
Grinds and RNG are part of most MMO's like you know but this can sometimes be insane. It's why we drink and cry sometimes. I personally feel they were trying to give something casual that doesn't require you to jump into Ramuh EX or Turn 9 +, but now you got the guys who play way too much who are going to run through it in a day and say "I'm bored..this game has no content!" so I think they put it a bit higher to help those who play a lot something to do.
I agree the RNG and grinds are insane. It took me over 50 runs to get the last dungeon item I needed for my zodiac, really it was the last one. Quarn and it just broke my spirit..I cried..the guy who started this post cried and didn't even know why! Doves cried and Prince came out and slapped me. It was bad..but at the same time I chose to run it so much in a small time frame so I just have myself and my good friend Mr. Jimmy Beam to thank for that.
I see these things changing though a bit in 3.0. Looking at the system for primals, tokens + RNG for example..and the easing up with needing max stats and everything max level to craft things, a lot of QoL changes I feel are coming but I don't know how it will work out. We will see. Again I agree with the statements! I just have a small crystal of hope that Tataru and Yoshi P will do things just fine. Lessons learned and off we go into 3.0!
I got nothing good about this one..someone made that decision to keep it. "Some men aren't looking for anything logical. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn"

RMT would never bother with grinding coil, there is nothing profitable from it. If you see a full coil bot I would bet on it that it's a hacked account running on RMT bots.
I would also like to pipe in here, the only times I have got a 90k are twofold, mass 90ks, when half the server disconnects (you see a mass of xxx logged out in FC messages, then you go) and when it's just me, and I have to reset my router, or I have a genuine problem. 9 times out of 10 when it's only you disconnecting the problem is either with you, the path taken to the servers or your ISP, Some ISPs will throttle mmo traffic as it's not seen as important or they have catergorised it wrong (they will however never admit either of these, and just blame SE), that's why the rest of the internet can be working, even an IP address change can cause a 90k, and allow you to instantly reconnect. Or your ISP might use inadequate routes to SE, the internet isn't only you > ISP > SE, it's more like You > ISP > Local hub > another local hub > a further local hub > National hub > a few Canada hubs > Montreal local hubs and finally SE. A latency issue can occur at any hop, neither SE or your ISP has control over these, therefore you can't really blame them and any can cause lag, either widespread or individual. The issue is worse in Europe because we have to add transatlantic fibre cables into the equation.
Also on the RMT tells yes they can add a spam filter, but the "companies" just start using code, and it's not only using things like greek characters, that look similar to roman characters, I have seen at times they will say something like "Hello, please visit w9w.9e6u7g0l5.c0m 9 = W 6=B 7=Y 5=D 0+O" tell me, how does a spam filter stop things like this? RMT adapt, the only way to stop it is to stop people buying, and they will die.
