That is mainly because Japanese players are self sufficient. They will gather the mats themselves and craft for there own gaming needs. Severely limits people who need Gil.There is no RMT in Japan servers, if you don't believe me try create one alt at one of the Japanese servers and you will know it. So far from my experience all mmo is grind base. I agree about the house availability is limited but we can have Private Chamber, and the size of the room is slightly larger than the small house.
There is RMT on japanese servers. No idea what your talking about. Just go onto a gil selling site and they list them right there if ya don't believe me :/

I dunno, they may listed it there, but I never got a /tell or anything from them for the past .... year. They probably didn't go overboard by spamming in jp server though.
Same on balmung. Haven't gotten any for a while.
When I first transfered there it was something I noticed.
Not a single tell for gil for 7 months straight. However I do get a few now and again just recently. Just because you don't get tells about it doesn't mean others probably don't buy gil. Or that they don't get tells.

Anyway. The bots are there.
And they are there because they get business.

Another thing to keep in mind is that RMT usually get names to send tells to from doing a check on who's in a zone. Usually they check only the crowded zones, so if you stay in Mor Dhona for a long time, or in the main cities, you're more likely to get spam. I seldom get spam, but when I do, it's always shortly after I've been in Mor Dhona for longer than a few minutes.
A lot of people (not everyone) complaining about RMT are also those who don't log off and/or go afk in Mor Dhona/Gridania/Ul'dah/Limsa for long periods of time.
The tells are bad enough. Lately it's been friend requests from level 1 character gil sellers. These you cannot just ignore - you must take action to reject the friend request and you can't just blacklist the sender - you must reject the invite TWICE then blacklist the sender, only to get another friend request a few hours later from yet another level 1 RMT with one letter changed in the same name.
