    Repair prices on your worlds?

Hi everyone. Just a thread out of curiosity.

Now that we've had Dark Matter for a little while, I've been wondering what average repair prices are like on your servers.

Rough observations from Saronia that I've seen:
(excluding the 1 gil repairs which are obviously for LS members)

    Grade 1: 500 ~ 1000 gil
    Grade 2: 500 ~ 1000 gil
    Grade 3: 1000 ~ 2000 gil
    Grade 4: 2000 ~ 4000 gil
    Grade 5: 2000 ~ 5000 gil

There are also quite a few people who simply offer the same grade of Dark Matter in return.

It seems a bit strange to me that the reward:cost ratio gets much worse as the Dark Matter grade goes up -- despite the fact that the person who can perform the repair has spent much more time ranking up their craft.

I really wonder if the people who offer less than the price of the Dark Matter itself are simply unaware of the cost?

Quite rare, but there are people who offer more generous rewards. The highest I've seen for a G5 repair was 10,000 gil.

    ----------------

    Related questions:

    1. Would you repair a stranger's gear if they offered less than the price of the Dark Matter?

    2. What about a stranger who offers Dark Matter or nearly the same value of the Dark Matter as gil in return?

    3. Does it make a difference if they are actually present and asking for repairs, versus someone who is probably AFK?

the average minimum for Fabul is the same cost as the matter or offer a matter as payment, but even that is frowned upon by a good percentage so most people put a little more. and most of my LS members dont go less than the minimum for other members

    as for your questions
    1. if it's a grade 3 or lower i will. (not much of a loss there)

    2. that's the lowest i would go unless its for a good friend

    3. if they are actively asking for help they should put more than the cost of one matter or 2 matters as reward. if afk i'd be fine with just the cost of one or one as reward.

I see a lot of people putting only 1 dark matter of the grade required for repair up and that is it. Essentially they are asking for repairs to be done for free. Sure its costing the owner the price of dark matter but the person doing the repairs gets only their material back (and possibly some sp).

Do people actually get repairs done from strangers in this fashion? I personally always put 2 dark matter up when asking for a repair. One for the repair and one as compensation. Conversely, if I walk by and someone on has 1 dark matter listed as the reward I just keep walking. Time is money friend.

    Similar observations here

    and as to your questions.

    1. No
    2. Depends on how high the synth is and how much sp im going to get, if its like 10 levels above my current level and i get 250 sp then yes. Otherwise why bother
    3. No

Thank you for the answers so far!

    To answer my own questions:

    1. Would you repair a stranger's gear if they offered less than the price of the Dark Matter?

    I would not bother.

One of the weirder situations I've seen is someone putting up 3 repairs at G3, G4, and G5 -- and offering the same Gil reward for each one -- say 3000 gil.
    I repaired all of their gear because it works out for me in the end, but I wonder if by doing so I'm sort of telling them that a G5 repair for 3000 gil is acceptable? Small dilemma there. ^^;

    2. What about a stranger who offers Dark Matter or nearly the same value of the Dark Matter as gil in return?

If they offer just the same Dark Matter in return, I generally only do it if I already have that tool equipped... otherwise it's a bother to change gear, fix, then change back to what I was originally doing for no real reward. (SP rewards are still pretty negligible especially at higher ranks)

I haven't noticed anyone on Saronia putting up 2 pieces of the same Dark Matter yet.

    3. Does it make a difference if they are actually present and asking for repairs, versus someone who is probably AFK?

This one kind of matters to me. If the person is actually there I am more likely to help than if they are AFK.

I guess the interaction with another player is part of my satisfaction in performing repairs, so I consider it as part of my reward.

    -------------------

In seeking my own repairs, I generally put up 2000 times the grade of the Dark Matter if I need help from a stranger... i.e. 10,000 for a G5 repair.

I used to do 4000 times the grade when Dark Matter first came out, but most of my LS friends started complaining, and would refuse to repair at such a high price. ><
... Now we generally just do an exchange of Dark Matter.

    Well, my 3 cents:

to 1. Yes, if a) condition of broken gear is critical (below 20%) and b) rank of an unit to repair is above my personal job level.

to 2. Yes, please. As change, we may accept chards, crystals and that kind of stuff as well , not only Dark Matter or Gil.

to 3. If you are asking (/shouting) for repairs, you have definitely more chances for faster repairs. Here, it is more helpful
to know a rank of broken item and required job than other information.

    See ya ingame .

As a side-note, I tend to offer 8-10k for G5 repairs and 6-8k for G4 repairs, depending on how badly I want it repaired quickly. I like to be generous.

If the reward is >= the cost then yes. If the reward is < the cost, then it depends on whether or not I will get sufficient skill ups to even bother wasting my time.
