Too much spell speed for BLM?

Hello forum readers IceSpear here and a question came to mind while a Scholar had Selene out and I was doing my AoE rotation. When Selene used her spell speed buff it seemed that I was missing a few umbral ice ticks or more practically I was casting my spells too fast. So this begs the question, is there such thing as too much spell speed? Sure this is an AoE rotation, but what about single target rotation, could too much mess up your umbral ice phase.

For AoE SS is pretty worthless, you just end up waiting for multiple things anyway.

For ST, its small negative effect on the rotation isn't bad, you just end up doing T1 > B1 as your rotation instead of T2. There is a point where you can have so much SS that T1 > B1 will be too fast and you'll still have to wait, but it's a minor setback for the rest of your rotation getting buffed, unlike AoE which is stuck on the whims of the server to give your ticks.

I have a feeling that the update to spell speed will cause the umbral ice mp ticks to go off faster. It's just a feeling, so for now maybe, but later it won't be.

Hasn't it been proven that T1>B1>F3 is optimal Single target rotation? Also as far as I know spell speed is best stat till certain 5xx or was it 6xx point considering ST. For AoE det /crit is far better. So I'd say once you reach a point when you can cast T1>b1>F3 so fast you don't get the last mp tick to 100% you have too much spellspeed

People need to remember that a healer's job isn't to heal HP
but rather to prevent HP from reaching 0

I'm no expert on calculating DPS or anything, but the only reason you do Thunder I instead of Thunder II, is because it has lower cast time... And casting Thunder II would mean wasting time that you could have used in Astral Fire(less DPS in other words)... But if you had high enough SS to miss the last MP tick, you would just use Thunder II instead, and get the last tick that way. It would take the same time in Umbral Ice, so it wouldn't change anything on that part...

Not sure you can come up to that point currently in the game though, without Fey Glow ofc... and if you have Fey Glow on you, and you see that you sometimes miss the last tick, use Thunder II for that. Pretty easy to see that Glow is on you, with the very fast casting, in case you don't notice it on your buffs.

;x you should B1 > T1/T2 if you still have a thunder dot on your target also.

I think the biggest thing is if you're used to doing your rotation a certain way, selene's buff is gonna mess that up.
