If you want to get technical, we do get a 'raid' every patch, it's just that the ones that take a day to learn and complete are categorized as raids, what if they have 2 difficulties for the 24 mans? Or is that asking too much?

The point of having a static is progressing with a group that's all on the same page, and keeping gear drops within the group so you have to farm less in general to gear your main/alts, rather than trying to compete with others repeatedly in PFs.
3.0 isn't going to change that, but it'll open up the option to actually help folks in your FC/LS while at they're at it without any helper penalty supposedly.
Because some (if not most of them, and "some" being the nice ones) are jerks asking insanely high prices for the turns.
But putting that aside, why would it affect them ?
Because once a content isn't locked anymore, it loses about 80-90% of its value on average (T9 clears fell from 100m to 15m on 2.4 patch day) thanks to the fact that the run sellers don't have to "free" a spot with someone who doesn't get a chance to loot this week. Also, it allows more groups to offer their services, naturally decreasing further the prices.
Not even counting the fact that on unlocked content, people aren't forced to come down to buying runs in order to find competent enough players. There are plenty who just happen to already have a static, thus can't play with everyone they'd like to.
Of course they do. As much as I despise run selling in general, I find no point in selling runs cheap to punching bags who shouldn't even get the clear in the first place.
the problem is not selling high. The problem is, when a T13 run is selling for 200M+, it's just an open door to RMT. And people will still come here whining about how RMT are such a problem. Whether they admit it or not, current run sellers policy is the main reason why RMT are so profitable on FFxiv.
There is a fair margin between selling high and selling insanely high. Nothing should sell above what an average player can get in a reasonable amount of time.
But then if the gil is obtainable in a reasonable amount of time, then it's likely the people selling the runs will have spent a greater amount of time fine tuning their static to be able to carry someone through it. It has to be an unreasonable price tag simply because it is not easy to get a group together to complete it in the first place as it generally takes more than a "reasonable" amount of time to actually get to the point where you are able to win the fight with 7 other nobody's. Otherwise if it was a decent price everybody would just pay for it.
As far4 as Alexander goes, Yoshida said that Alexander Normal wont have a lock out because there is a difference in gear and item levels between the Normal and Extreme Modes due to the sudden jump in difficulty from one to the other.
So basically you'll most likely NEED normal mode's gear to clear extreme mode.
As for the Gil sellers, I couldn't care less what hurts their "Business". They Charge waaaaay to damn much even for the older content. T5 and titan ex are still in the 2m mark for buying wins so I just manned up and "Got gewd". Even a million gil is not easy to come by let alone 50-100+ Million. When some one says 200 million they are talking Large FC plot money for ONE RAID WIN. I don't fricking think so.
Most run sellers refuse to do business with me because I've made it well known that I'm unwilling to spend more that 50-100k on ANY content, 100k not worth your time? Then you're not worth my coin. I'm much more willing to pay crafters large sums as many a four star crafter will contest. I've spent as much as 600k of 4-5 star craft items and still threw in a 10-20k tip for the crafter doing a good job.
Why? I COULD become a crafter but it'd take a lot of time to invest in being one. So I respect the work 4 and 5 star crafters put into it. But even I with all my "Scrubness" can clear an EX Primal or Raid with practice, a good team, and a little luck. So why should I PAY some one to do what I can do for free?
