How come we can't see the Floating Continent behind Ishgard yet?

In the new trailer that came out yesterday, there were several floating landmasses behind Ishgard, pretty clearly visible. My question is, why can't we see them yet? Are they too far away to pick out with the naked eye? Or are they behind mountains of some kind?

Wouldn't call it retconning more like something occurs that creates these masses of land and it's that very mystery which might be a focus on the 3.0 main story.

The floating city is piloted by angry spriggans who are annoyed at their relegation to trash mob. They signed a deal with the Dravnians for refuge and found the ancient piloting device to steer it on a course back to Eorzea. 3.0 charts the epic battle between thousands of squishy spriggans and the impending doom of a large floating island on a collision course with Ul'dah. 4.0 will be the aftermath of the collision where they remake the entire world again, only replacing Ul'dah with a giant crater. Lolorito attempts to stop the floating island with his face.

...or it could be hidden in the mist. Just saying.

Maybe Ishgard's magic walls hide them from view, similar to how SCoB's entrance is hidden.

You speak of the Sea of Clouds. This is on the map already, but they're not visible to us yet since the clouds cover it most likely.
