Which version of Heavensward do I need? (Vanilla Account) Launched through Steam.

So I'm at a confusing crossroads, I use a vanilla FFXIV account. I originally lost the details for it so I bought a steam version of the game and played on that for a little while. Little did I know I registered them both under the same SE account. My main is now 50 and its the vanilla char.

I really want to get my Heavensward pre-order done but I have no idea if I need a steam version of the game or a hard copy. The game is launched and installed through steam, but the account I play on is my old 1.0 Vanilla account.

A GM Response would be appreciated if not nessesary in this case I don't want to throw out 40$ on a copy that doesn't work.

I actually have a friend with the same issue.

I'm not sure either...I thought steam initially but it's not a steam account...

You need the non-Steam expansion. It doesn't matter how you launch the games, all that matters is the account you want to upgrade and where you originally purchased that. You didn't purchase that account through Steam so you don't upgrade through Steam.

I actually have a friend with the same issue.

Where did they purchase the account they actually play with (the one with their characters on). The serial code they used determines if it is Steam or not.

i wanted to pre-order heavensward for the goodstuff yet i live in south east asia. i started with 1.0 and then upgraded to arr. when i tried to use the online store, my country is not listed. in fear that the copy i will buy will not work with the version i have, is there any way for me to pre-order?

edit... i still hsve with me my 1.0 dvd installer if that could help

Sorry I can't help with where to get it from, but (and sorry if you already knew this), make sure you get the expansion in the same region as your main game (and non-Steam but you probably worked that out already). If you don't get/import the exact same region as your main game (NA/EU/JP) then it won't work.

if in process that i find out the the region my game is, my second problem is that the online store does not list my country. i am not good at lying and i also don't want to suffer the consequences of giving the wrong info just to get the pre-order bonus.

Sorry I looked round the SE account pages and Mog Station to see if I could find anything that would show my own region (which I know is EU), but nothing was obvious.

I wonder if perhaps you can work it out based on the currency you get billed in though as surely NA accounts would be billed in dollars (US or Canadian?) and EU would be either Euros or Pound Sterling and JP would be Yen I assume. That might be completely wrong though!

dollars. i pay my monthly using usd. i am thinking that it's na but i want to be extra sure. if itwas indeed na, then i guess i have to give a random location on my online store account as there are no south-east asian country listed.

Probably safest way is just to contact SE and ask them what region you are so at least when they reply if it doesn't work (!) then you can point out you bought the region they said etc.
