    Steam CE to Windows Standard

    Hi all!

I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to on the web. Therefore I came here
Question:If I have Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn CE (STEAM), can I simply buy Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn Standard Edition (NON-STEAM) for the PC and just continue playing and still have my character and my CE stuff from Steam version on Non-Steam version?

I ask this question because I found out, that if i want Heavensward CE it HAS to be the steam version since my A Realm Reborn is Steam version aswell. Therefore I want to buy the non-steam version of A Realm Reborn and later buy the cool physical Collector's Edition of Heavensward.

I hope someone knows the answer

Yes, but your gear sets, macros, and hotbars all have to be redone, as those are saved locally. A s long as you have a license for the platform, in this case steam and windows, you will have everything accessible on each, even if somethings have to be remade. But, to be a leader to play heavensward through steam, should y oy ever s desire to, you will have to re-buy the steam version

This is all solid info. Just to clarify though, the CE items carry over between platforms so you would only need to buy the standard edition.

Not the way you want, sorry. Whether your account is Steam or non-Steam isn't based on how you run it, it's based on the serial code you used when you activated the service account/free 30 days. At that point SE flagged it on their system as Steam or not.

The Steam and non-Steam versions are exactly the same installation on your hard drive and both update via Square Enix directly so it doesn't matter if you play through Steam or not (and many people including myself have bought the game again on Steam to ignore/not use the game code, but just so Steam counts our game time). If your account has a Windows licence then you can play on either, but you can only add one Windows licence to each service account. So your main service account already has a Windows licence (internally flagged by SE as Steam based on the code you used at the start) and if you bought the game again it would give you another Windows code that could only be used on a new service account (new characters and new subscription) and no sorry you can't transfer characters between service accounts.

So unless you fancy restarting, your main account is going to always be Steam based and will need Steam expansions. So if you buy the non-Steam versions of either the game or the expansion, you won't be able to use them on your main account, you can only use them on a new service account (with new characters and a new subscription each month).

Best I can suggest is find a friend who plays on PS4 and work out a deal with them so you buy the PS4 Collectors Edition, but they get/use the expansion code (and then you buy it again on Steam too, but then you have the physical items still).

Sorry for not having better news.
