Choppy gameplay after one week of not playing

    Hey guys,

So I recently bought FFXIV and started playing last week on my desktop at home. It was running perfectly smooth in all areas without any choppiness. This week I come home and as the title says, the game feels choppy. Unless something happened when I was away at school, it appears that this is completely random. I've been running the game on the standard desktop settings.

    These are my computer specs:

    Processor: Intel Core i7-4770S CPU @ 3.10GHz

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

    Memory: 8GB

Operating System: Windows 7 64 Bit

The funny thing is that I also play FFXIV on my laptop, which is for sure the "lesser" computer and the game runs perfectly fine on the standard laptop settings. The choppiness and frame drops mainly come from when I pan the camera using my mouse or the A and D keys. Furthermore, whenever I'm in combat my FPS significantly goes down, which doesn't happen when I play on my laptop either. I've tried lowering the resolution and graphics to lower settings, but the choppiness and frame drop appears to continue. I opened up and played CS:GO as a "test" of sorts, using max settings and the game played perfectly smooth. I realize that CS:GO is less intensive than this game, and that it might not be relevant, but I thought I would let you guys know just in case.

For the most part I'm just confused as to why this would be happening for seemingly no reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
