The argument I always see get brought up is that if there were public/private options then people would just demand to see your numbers or kick you. I don't feel like that argument holds up, personally, but it seems like the most common objection.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
Exactly.
People already parse you without knowing it.
You rather just remain ignorant to the fact that you can't reasonably play your job? I'm not talking about being average dps. But if you were pulling like 150-200dps as an ilv120 BLM or something, you wouldn't want to know?
You should expect that other people are already parsing you.

Why would anyone want to join a coil party and have their numbers hidden (not that they can, with the parsers that already exist)? The only reason I can think of is because their numbers are low, they know they're low, and they're blindly hoping not to be discovered and that the rest of the party will carry them through
Exactly this.Exactly.

Like I said before, if the parser was in the game itself SE would have full control over what is shown and where.
With the current status quo you get parsed, everywhere whenever someone has the program running.
The only reason for them not to do it seems to be that they are not willing to spend resources on it.
Well the PF bit I wrote means that if you weren't set to public you wouldn't be able to join the party anyway, if they wanted only people with it set to public
Anything that could benefit from knowing your numbers (ie FCOB) already is being parsed. being a ps4 player, it's incredibly annoying that after every run I have to ask our guy what my numbers were.
I genuinely don't know of any runs where someone is not already parsing, it's just more of an inconvenience that I have to constantly ask them
