    I remember when I was told....

    Coil was not important story content, just a "side thing" that wasn't important to the story. It was the reason some vocal raiders didn't believe everyone needed to experience the story for Coil. It wasn't anything "important" and thus, not for everyone. I knew otherwise, but this was literally the whole basis of the argument against a Story Mode Coil (I am neither for or against the idea. Please don't debate the whole thing over again.) After the cutscene from the live letter, I feel like those vocal raiders were just lying to everyone's face and being elitist =X.

    Well, yes and no.
    As far as the current Main Scenario goes (and will be going), the Coil(s) of Bahamut aren't that relevant.
    But if you want to know what exactly went down during Bahamut's rampage, as well as giving proper closure to the events that led into ARR, then yeah, it's important.

    The story for Coil didn't really get super important or revealing until Final Coil, and even then... I wouldn't say you learned anything super amazing until T12 (where that cutscene is from). Actually... to clarify... if you played 1.0, then T9 and the ending cutscene was definitely something you would find relevant. I knew a lot of players who started in ARR who didn't really understand the importance of that cutscene, and were left with more questions than answers...

    The story IS relevant (because, well, the whole world was reborn after Bahamut's rampage...), but the main scenario never really focused on that. The fact that the opening video (and introduction to the game) left the viewer wondering what happened... is why some people who haven't done Coil will be upset that they never saw it.

    I personally felt like they would eventually nerf mechanics and add echo before releasing Heavensward (just to allow people to finish the story), but releasing this video sort of shows me otherwise... Maybe they want to preserve the difficulty. After all, mechanics in T5 and T9 were never altered -- just more 'forgiving' because you were given echo. Many people are still at the T5 and T9 wall, even now.

    As a person who enjoys raiding, I've always empathized with the players who don't have the time or skill to do Coil... because they want to know the resolution to the opening sequence of the game, but they need to be carried or pay for it (ugh) to get the win. I've always been a supporter of 'easier' storymode versions (with no gear or less gear) to let people know the story. I think they're going in a good direction with Alexander's two modes.

    I youtubed everything ans got the story line. was very fun to watch and less stressfull than having to clear something I didnt care about

    Once Heavensward is out, there would be no harm in lowering the difficulty for the sake of the story content, or even loot.

    It didn't change anything going forward. Players that started in ARR have never even met the original Louisouix. It's a self contained story that only matters more to the players who interacted with him in 1.x. Half of my coil group who started in arr only saw it as a neat cutscene and only me and my fc leader seemed to care about what actually went down at the start and end of t12 (as in discussing about what actually happened). The other two who were in 1.x seemed to be more excited about tackling the boss iirc.

    So get a group together and run it if you want to finish it for the story..
    It's already been nerfed enough and you can find groups on duty finder also (not sure how viable that is) but if you really want it, you'll find a way. Also, after 3.0 comes out it'll probably be nerfed even more so you can just wait 2 months to do that if you want.

    Coil is lore, but you don't need to do it to enjoy/understand the MSQ. It's just a side thing if you're interested in learning about what happened to Bahamut and all that.

    The Coil story turned Alisaie into one of my favorite characters, but the fact that her going through that much growth is treated as "not important" to the main scenario basically means she can't really show up again, which is a bummer. I feel the same about CT for similar but different reasons. I'm hoping they at least add some sort of canon loophole like they did with Estinien, where MS acts like you've done the story already, but leaves out any spoilers that aren't immediately relevant.

    I like the idea of giving really big stories to raids, but not if it means the end result has to be "we will never speak of this again."

    I doubt it. This argument surfaced during the era of Second Coil - which everything was side-storyish. It was this off-to-the-side kind of content with some extra optional lore. Of course, at the time, Final Coil didn't exist; meaning that the cutscene at the end of the Truth of Flames wasn't actually known. Everything in First and Second Coil were technically just side stories. It peaks up in Final Coil.

    And please don't use that term so casually like that. The term can go both ways, and you're just drawing unnecessary attention to yourself as if you want to pick a fight.
