it is not about need, it is about : how fast is your "run speed" when the server goes up to competition against other player on small house. If it take 5-10 min for Excalibur small house to sold out , I doubt leviathan will be any better
This is not about need, but an advice to you, if you want a to have a house

Yep.. If there's not a single house plot left on your server, your best bet is to save up enough to buy a medium plot as they are the last ones to go.
Depending on server, before depreciation, about 15m. Beats getting all excited about new wards being added then waking up to all the plots being sold
Just bite the bullet and farm some gil, it'll make your life easier and also provide a bigger house for your FC members to play with.
Hm, I'm not really picky about the location or anything so I'll save up and snatch a house up when they open more up. I have other things to use my savings on for the time being (crafting progression into 4* but almost done, rest of Lucis) which is why I'm pretty against using anything other than a small because the house is not too high on priorities since it's just a small handful of us active at the moment. I just want to be able to provide them with somewhere to teleport to and a chocobo stable at some point and if it has to be after 3.0 launches, so be it.
The plots went really slowly on Leviathan especially in the subdivisions so I am not too worried about not being able to get one when new wards are opened up. It's just that I got this FC a little late into personal housing being introduced with no permissions to buy land back when we did have a lot of nice small plots available so it was pretty disappointing to look through even the deepest sections of The Goblet to see nothing other than maybe one Medium and a handful of Larges available.
With that said, I will see how things go with new wards when they are introduced before deciding between small/medium and until then I'll be storing gil here and there in the FC chest. Hopefully we will have enough by then to be able to consider a medium.
