We Have a Great Forum Community

Up until now I've thought of the Forum community as slightly rude. Then i took a step back and realized that most of the threads weren't all that bad. I don't think that the forum is populated by angry jerks, Just that most of us have a bad day and get slightly confrontational.
To all the people who have a bad view of the forums. If you take a step back and rethink your view on the forum community, does it look more inviting?

This is latter in this thread
Wow, you guys really surprised me. I was expecting a flood of angry posts, You guys are actually very polite.
Here's the data I've collected from this thread. 15 posters stated their opinion and where not rude. even though you disagreed with me, your actions spoke along with your words.
Oh, and one more thing. I know the in-game community is much better than the forums, I'm not trying to compare the two.(^_^)

This forum is no where near an accurate representation of the actually community of XIV honestly. So I would say the forum community horrible compared to the in-game community.

I would give this Forum Community a 4/10 honestly. Most people do nothing on here except complain, threaten to quit, flame every suggestion or comment to a post, or talk about how bad the game is. The few post that are not complaining are good though I will say that.

I for one cannot wait for them to charge to get rid of the trolls and such from these forums. Then you will see the real community.

Internet forums are always magnets for the dregs of society. People used to say it was the anonymity of the internet, but I think you can just look at facebook discussions and see clearly that wasn't the case. I think it is the soapbox that creating a forum thread gives which causes this type of behavior.

Fool's names and fool's faces are abound in public places.

I'm a bit of a hypocrite with all the posting I do, but this adage is so true. The in game community is so much better, and the forum community will never improve significantly no matter what shape the game takes. It is impossible, unless they really start heavy moderation.

A little bit. There is a lot of aggressiveness in the forums, but I try to ignore them. I focus on the laid-back, friendly, reasonable people here, and they're pretty cool. Finding some of them makes the experience here worthwhile.

I agree with most of the folks here, though; the in-game community is much better. I've run into some good, helpful people so far.

I can't speak for everyone else, but sometimes this forum is a great place to let off some steam by making a good troll thread. My "Bigger Snacktrays for Seekers of the Moon Miqo'te" was a mild success before it got nuked.

Most of the time my observations are razor sharp and informative. Look forward to more of my works!

If I'm not giving obvious indications that I'm trolling, what I say is worth reading; I share those brain nuggets with you, the community, to inspire and awe you. Together, we can make the community a brighter place.

Ya this is a very bad community IMO. But this is in part because we have a very small "real" FFXIV community right now...most of the playerbase migrated from other MMOs in bands and ended subduing the original FFXIV community. So the less that matters right now here is the FFXIV...its all about FFXI vs WoW vs Rift vs any other MMO. In the end we got a clah of multiple MMO communities here and who paid for this is the FFXIV itself.

There are a lot of changes I do like Murugan. Just not all of them. I like the AA feature, just needs to be tweeked a bit to balance things out. Dungeons are the same way. The developers want feedback and ideas and debating our points (both sides) and let them choose what they think is best. I may not always agree (like the armory change) but in the end if it was the other way around others would fight just as passionately for something they love but I would at least give them the respect for their choices.

I said I'm sad about the uniqueness being lost because a lot of the original ideas are being replaced with "industry standard". There is nothing /wrong/ with tried and true methods. There is however, when new ideas that can be great if they are implanted properly and fine tuned to fit game play. If they don't work the first time, stepping back and looking how to fix the system would be better then just scrapping the whole thing to once again go back to "industry standard". When innovation is welcomed and well received it becomes the new "standard" but we can't have that without trying new things.

But, as you've now said, you've blocked me. So, posting this to you is moot. I just hope others will read this and understand the other side of the fence.

It's not about liking all of the changes, this is a discussion forum it is there to discuss things like that. I take issue with your incessant and rudely dismissive attacks on anyone who enjoyed XI as trying to "hijack the game" and make it into FFXI-2, while you do the same thing with features from other MMO's you hold up.

I like grind parties with XP chains, I like skill chains, I like large scale end game, I think there were a lot of things from XI that were great. I want FFXIV to build upon those ideals because they are representative of the type of MMO I enjoy as opposed to your modern MMO which I feel discourages things like cooperative play and complexity in favor of simplicity and anti-socials.

FFXIV's linking system based on party strength sounds like something which is both innovative and builds upon something I like. I think the Armory system is innovative and builds upon the sub job system from FFXI, however I think it's implementation has caused big problems with balance and has led to lackluster ability/class diversity as a result, so I look forward to seeing how they are going to change this.

I may not like it, but because they haven't actually said what they are changing I'm willing to wait and see. I like the aims of the job system though because I think this game could use more specialized roles in parties and that this would only enhance gameplay. But again I'll have to see how they implement before I can actually judge it.
