Both of these can be avoided by moving anywhere you want as the MT. The boss doesn't move or turn or do anything but cast his attack.

I don't see why so many tanks have trouble understanding and doing this. It's very simple and easy to do, I noticed this behavior from bosses when I was still a newb tank:
1. Enemy makes an aoe marker on the ground
2. Tank moves out of it (or alternates debuffs as needed in the case of Ireful/Sullen)
3. Aoe marker disappears
4. Tank moves back to original spot during enemy's cast animation
Doing this guarantees minimal, usually no boss movement at all, and tank safety from aoes on most bosses and from most of Angra's aoes. The only exception for Angra is if the hourglass aoe lands on the MT's side. During most boss aoe casts, they do not move or attack during the cast. During the hourglass aoe, Angra does. However, the aoe gives the MT room to step out and face Angra to the NNW or NNE until the aoe's completion, barely any different from it's original position if it's being tanked in the correct location.
Fingers crossed that one of the problem tanks out there will read my post and improve their knowledge.

Some of them take "spin 2 win" a bit too literally.
I've seen a few reasons why tanks tend to spin Angra:
1. They don't turn to avoid getting Doomed, need to go to cleanse it, thus moving the boss.
2. Someone pulls aggro. This one is the most common.
3. Nobody calls out if they're MT or not, a DPS pulls, all 3 tanks try to get aggro, chaos ensues.
I've never actually see someone spin him around on purpose or to avoid mechanics. He freezes in animation for the Flare thing and the.. other.. one I can't remember the name of, so you can dodge and go back to where you were once the cast finishes. He also freezes for the Red/White thing. There's never really any mechanic that causes you to rotate the boss, other than not avoiding getting Doomed.
I dont even go into WoD anymore since fcob unlocked. Dont really like the sets for glamour over the coil ones
I'm on a JP server and I ran into a bit of a tank war yesterday in WoD... but to be honest, it was my first time in that situation.
I was the B tank (B is the MT by default) and on Angra Mainyu in Alliance chat I said I was going to pull. Neither of the other tanks responded, so I start to run ahead... and as I'm running towards the boss, the C tank throws a shield lob and takes hate first.
"Okay?" I thought it was a mistake, so I go through all of my hate generating abilities and Flash a few more times and take hate on the boss, positioning it in the center, facing away from everyone. A few seconds later, the C tank pulls hate off me, and of course Angra Mainyu starts spinning around and things get chaotic as DPS start to die from being caught in its laser attack... but I managed to get hate back and things started to settle down and we got through the fight.
At the five headed dragon, the C tank does not shield lob before me, but still pulls hate off me about 15 seconds into the fight as I'm trying to move the dragon a bit further back to give other players room to move. After a bit of a tug of war between us with the dragon wavering back and forth, I decide to let the C tank take the MT role if she really wants it that badly and just switch into Sword Oath.
On Cerberus, I start again since I feel that is my expected role... then about 30 seconds in, C tank pulls hate off me again. I'm tired of fighting for hate, so I announce in Alliance chat that B (our party) will take the role typically designated for C, and we just take care of the Wolfsbane adds and DPS the boss for the rest of the fight.
On the final boss, I say that C can go ahead and MT. Without a word to acknowledge, she charges in and starts to tank. When the Hyper Charged things go up, A and B take care of theirs, but C is behind on their DPS and gets caught when it blows up. The boss comes back, and C wipes -- my party which was all Duty Finder, bursts out laughing at the irony of it, but the rest of the raid proceeds to wipe about 30 seconds later. After running back and buffing, I say B is ready (i.e. "MT go ahead")... C doesn't attack... after what felt like a very awkward minute, the A tank says they will go in and she takes the MT role. The rest of the fight goes smoothly.
Despite the frustration of fighting for hate with the C tank throughout the raid, it actually brought our B party together. We all thanked each other at the end and ended on a positive note.
Drama does happen on JP servers... but thankfully not too often.
There are tanks who constantly battle for hate.
