Yeah, I know we are living in the fantasy world where floating fish, giant toad and legged snake exist.

Just want to ask, is it possible for us to swim? Dive deep underwater with your swimsuit. I have unused swimsuit in my storage.

Ocean and Lake Chocobo for swimming instead. Underwater areas is boring and the fighting in the water is terrible. I would love to have an ocean chocobo though .

The dev team had considered it before the theme of Heavensward was decided. There was an interview in which Yoshi-P mentioned they narrowed down the direction of the expansion to focus on having the players explore either up into the sky or down into the sea. They chose flying over swimming. Considering that, perhaps the 4.0 expansion will give us swimming?

Swimming will probably be in an expansion. How else are we supposed to get to all those other continents hahaha...

Swimming is a concept that hasn't been grasped yet in the history of Eorzea. Yes, we have swimming suits but no one knows why they're called like that and what they're actually for. Maybe someday, the species of Eorzea will evolve from land to sea and we'll all become a happy jellyfish family.
