Should I keep upgrading my tools?

With Heavensward coming out in a few months I've found myself questioning whether I should keep upgrading my tools. As of right now I have 4 jobs with Lucis/Artisan OH tools, and the rest of the jobs with Artisan MH/Militia OH.

I originally intended to get Lucis for everything, but given the large amount of time and gil it takes to do that for every class I'm thinking about just waiting to see if that stuff is skipable once the expansion hits.

What do you guys think? would it be worthwhile for someone who aspires to be a top tier crafter to get the best tools now? Or should I wait and see what Heavensward will bring?

I don't see how they will make level 50 tools useful once crafts have a lvl60 cap, but that being said... I hope they are... as I've already got them all.

Currently I think Lucis are useless :/

It depends on your playstyle. I prefer to have all classes with the same stats - this allows to use the same rotations and don't think about class during craft. Artisan offhand + Lucis makes possible to use 13 ht rotations for 3* crafts. Such rotations are 3% risky, but allows to craft hq from the shit and gives a 20-30% chance to reach 100% quality on regular items with 2000 start quality even without hitting byregot. With byregot... Good condition may be needed but only when rng fails a lot of ht. To have or not to have - it is a question ))

Supra are the useful tools. If you are 4 star with them, then Lucis do not *really* help you. At least, not yet.

We do not know what the stat requirements are going to be for level 60 high end crafting. The only thing we really do know is that higher stats cannot hurt, and can only help. For all we know, Lucis is going to make the difference between easy leveling and hard leveling.

That said, Lucis are not that expensive to obtain, more time-consuming than anything else. Some prefer the Militia Choker (which makes sense, given the ingredient list), I have found that once the Raptor Sinew supply is gone(Hippogryf Leather being too easy to acquire), it is easier to simply gather the materials for Madman's Whispering Rod, of which you can gather the materials for 25 per game day if your Botany is level 50 with AF gear.

I'm 90% sure that se will just drop lucis's usefullness in 3.0 from the get go cuz can u imagine how hard the playerbase will rage if that makes leveling from 50-60 hard? I know for a fact that there will be crafted supplements that will be almost on par with lucis but better than supra at launch of 3.0 that will help u level up.
Think brass, copper, silver needles etc for progression of weaver lvl1-50.
Ofc ppl with lucis will have an easier time starting off and will charge lots of monies for HQ so and so but its better if you as a player save up in gil, fc seals, allied seals, tomes, etc.
Cuz when 3.0 drops whoever sells something 1st will become rich.
Sitting at supras + artisan off hand is a really safe and easy spot. So imo ur fineeeeeeeee lol

I found only one buff from Lucis - it allows to use 4hit progress sequence for 3/4 star crafts.
Obtaining Lucis is hard. I switched between chockers rods and duckbills (a lot of woolen cloth drops from fc3 desynth) and don't know what is the best. Rods gives 4 moonstones/72 min, 3 chokobo calls (90 min) gives 1 stack of hippo skin and 1 stack of raptor sinew. Ixali quests are very slow, maps are very random and slow too.

I think similar to the new relic weapons for DoW and DoM, Lucis "line" will continue but also a new tool with similar stats might be avaiable with a long quest/grind. Those tools are already ilvl90, that is a lot for crafter gear. It might still be BiS, with we getting stats boost though lvl up plus a whole new gear set, they can safely leave the Lucis as BiS.

I'm sorry but I have to lol, as I completely disagree. Obtaining the Lucis tools are time consuming, which doesn't equate to being hard. Also where I may have spent 3-5M/job getting supras and artisan's OH I only spent about 1-2M over every job getting Lucis (I only fasttracked about 60 moonstones, the rest i just farmed on dailies and maps). The only reason I would suggest getting them at this point is that we don't know if they will be further upgradable at 3.0. I remember reading Yoshi-P stating that if you had a fully upgraded Zeta or Lucis you would get some sort of reward with the new relic/tools for having them. Now obviously this could change or not be true, but I would assume that at 60 Lucis tools will still have their uses. As they stand now, they aren't needed for 4 star, they only help slightly.

Do what any crafter worth their salt does.. Throw money at your problem and make it go away..

On my server, it's about 3-4k per militia choker. that's like ~20k per moonstone in gil..

I already have 10/11 Lucis tools. fisher waits ). As i remember, to get all 220 moonstones and 660 math items it is nesessary to buy >16 stacks of skins and the same amount of sinew. And >12k of crystals. Such massive purchaces quickly kills market positions. With rods i saw in my world a little another situation. There are 3 gathered components. In most cases i saw that 2/3 are sold at asseptable price level and one - at unacceptable.
