Which is why the upgrade should be free or significantly reduced in price If they drop PS3. Hopefully free because making people pay twice for the same game is ridiculous.
But knowing how MMOs are, slim chance of that happening.

SE recently gave PS3 owners free transfers to the PS4. Square also stated that they will drop PS3 support sometime in the near future. Heavnsward might be the end of PS3 support.
There are people who are playing on laptops from 2008, get 10-20 fps tops with with the graphics set to the absolute minimum. And people think the console versions are holding things back? Have people thought this through?
BTW, running it on the PC at framerates will cause the various physics animations used in the game to run much quicker. Which is why it's probably best to leave V-Sync enabled. Otherwise your game could be considered to be "uglier" than the various console implementations.
Any one version of the game is not responsible for holding back another. That's why the game looks and runs much better on the PS4 and the PC than on the PS3.
I now have all three versions of the game. My PC is a 2010 MacPro (24 cores @ 2.66Ghz) w/ 32GB of RAM and a GTX 680 graphics card. I can tell you that the frame rate fluctuates more than the PS4 version, and @ 2460x1440 at maximum settings will run slower than the PS4 version when a lot of characters on screen. Running on High (Laptop) handles a large character count considerably better, but obviously doesn't look quite as good as the PS4 version. Though truth be told, the difference isn't THAT noticeable. I usually have no idea what graphics pre-set the game is running at unless I open the graphic settings and look for myself.

That physically hurt me.There are people who are playing on laptops from 2008, get 10-20 fps tops with with the graphics set to the absolute minimum. And people think the console versions are holding things back? Have people thought this through?

It doesn't matter what a person plays on or what their fps is, as long as they're happy w/ the game. 15 or 150 fps, it doesn't matter if you are satisfied. I was just trying to point out that the lowest common denominator is not the console version but the PC version do to the wide range of hardware people use.
Yes and no. From a technical point of view, by having versions on PS3 and PS4, Square Enix has decided to support these platforms. No different than what they did with the PS2 and FFXI. In 4-5 years, if Square Enix is still dedicated to the PS3 console, the developers will have no choice but to design to the lowest common denominator. Imagine trying to build a game suited to mid-range laptops that came out in 2008 in 2015![]()
I believe there was already mention that they would stop supporting when they release 4.0 (ie. expansion after Heavensward.)

It's minimal at best. Remember FFXIV is also on the PS3 so any limitations across the field is set to the weakest link, PS3. Once they reach the end of the cycle that involved the PS3. It's more likely there will be enhancements to the engine but only to what the best performance on the PS4 can handle. PC is only flexable in that you can upgrade components without having to replace the whole thing. PC's will always have the edge on that it isn't hardware locked. But at some point, (and its getting closer) you wont be able to tell the difference between a game console and PC other than spreadsheet and other office programs. Well not quite, it'll be more like a Apple since upgrading individual hardware will always be an issue for consoles.

you can't even see or should say you can't display how much kill you have on screen in your hood because of the ps3 limitations so I wouldn't be at all surprised if you can to TP because for the same reason. sorry for how that looks the speech to text on my tablet isn't very great.

Owning both copies of the game, I can honestly say I prefer the PC version. The arguments that it's better looking aren't entirely groundless, although the difference is very minimal. More characters on-screen and more fluid visuals are just some of the obvious benefits in the PC version. Of course, the benefit to owning a console is that it's an all-in-one magic box and anything it can do it can do well.
PC's on the other hand can vary widely, so no two players may be using the same system. With that in mind, some people run into random crashes or bugs that the devs didn't expect to find. I haven't experienced many myself, and the few I did I could replicate on the PS4 version so I chalk those down to every day glitches.
Control wise though, I much prefer having a keyboard. There are simply too many skills for me to map everything to a single controller!
