1. He said "High" which is very much above decent for the average everyday player that no PS4 user should ever be ashamed of. 2. He goes on to try and make a jab stating that a Final Fantasy game plays better on PC of all things. Well no duh, it is an MMO. XI played better on PC than PS2, I don't think anyone expects an MMO to be able to run superior on a console than on a PC.
Following the authors advice, I chewed on his second paragraph and found it to be opinionated garbage.

Indeed after skimming over the article myself it's just the others opinion and take on the game basically a somewhat veiled PC master race article and is as you said my friend garbage.1. The thing is that on the PC, there's a lot more variables you can mess with, and there are third party things like SweetFX that can make the game look better than it should (Personally I find most SweetFX tweaks make things look aesthetically worse) given the extra GPU power.1. The GPU capabilities of the PS4, at most are around the same level of a mid-highend video card, Think Radeon 7870, but the CPU capabilities are extremely weak, closer to an AMD FX8120 or Intel Core i7 930. The only thing the PS4 going for it over a PC is the lack of a bloated general purpose operating system and the overhead that goes with it.
If you have a video card weaker than a Radeon 7870 (eg all Laptops and most HP/Dell/Asus BestBuy floor models) than one can't really expect better visuals than the PS4. The CPU power however is certainly weak compared to any current system (The top-of-the-line systems are twice as fast.) So that results in a lot less things being displayed to begin with to compensate for the weaker CPU. So most non-crowded areas should look the same on the PC, but the frame rate's and number of objects will not.
Because they aren't going to be selling FFXIV stand-alone anymore... is likely the reason. It would come with the expansion pack, which means if the PS3 can't get the expansion pack, you'd have to buy it anyway to switch to the PS4.

Obviously the PC version looks a little better graphically.
But the major advantage is being able to play at 60-120fps.
My FPS is at constant 80+fps at all times. It's a great experience on my 120hz monitor.

From my experience, there are very minor differences that don't and shouldn't dissuade anyone from playing on the PS4:
-The PS4 doesn't handle shadow rendering as well as the PC does in terms of rendering multiple casts at once. Zooming out while near many players (say, in Limsa/Hawker's Alley or Mor Dhona/Revenant's Toll) will show that the detailed shadows of other players will shrink to a basic model, whereas when you zoom in, they become detailed again.
-Certain NPCs do not load into the background. It's still a step-up compared to the PS3 version wherein characters will not load unless you stand near them for a period of time, and to actually catch this happening on the PS4 is rare, but it DOES happen.
-In tandem with the above point, the FPS drops to 20-30 when in crowded areas. This is a paltry decrease if you compare it to the PS3, but it's still a detriment nonetheless.
Some people say they've never experienced these things happen or never witnessed anyone else encounter issues. It's important to keep in mind that it's obviously hard to notice these things if you've been console gaming for most of your time; therefore, you don't realize what is different or missing compared to the source material. It may "work" fine for you, but that doesn't mean it was rendered that way to begin with.

I would like to see Square stop supporting the PS3 next year. It's very old hardware is holding the game back for the PS4 and PC players.
It wouldn't be right to drop it this year, give people a little more time to get a PS4, then drop it.
Suport for PS3 depends on the PS3 userbase, especially in Japan. Fortunately PS4 is doing well there too, something to do with Japanese game developers/publishers finally moving to PS4.

That's all well and good but their free upgrade program ended the start of this month. People want to upgrade, they will have to fork out the cash for it.
