I hope that the U/U gear from dungeons is able to accept materia. I may be biased though as I have all the pertinent crafting classes to 50.

U/U will NOT be able to be enhanced.
Here is the rep answer on this. Was posted on the French forum which I translated.

He also says that NM/Dungeon gears will not become obsolete because crafter gears with materias will be balanced in regards to them.
It wasn't specified if U/U gears can turn into materia, but I'd suspect that yes they can.
That's NM gear, not raid/dungeon gear.U/U will NOT be able to be enhanced.

NM gears are Rare/Ex just as are the dungeons gears. Imo they won't make 2 categories for thoses gears but rather they will balance the gears obtained in events such as dungeons and NM so that all Rare/Ex gears are competitive to crafted gears with materia.
I already requested more info on that and will post when I get a more specific answer but my guess is that any Rare/Ex (U/U) gear won't be able to be enhanced with materia and all crafted gears including crafted gears from NM drops will be able to receive materia.
In that translation I see no mention of dungeon or raid gear, only NM gear. It's also possible that a community rep can post something that can easily be taken the wrong way (look at the latest 3 posts from Bayohne in the required rank on gear thread).NM gears are Rare/Ex just as are the dungeons gears. If all U/U gear will not be able to be enhanced why would they even say
as long as the gear you wish to enhance is tradable.
* Certain gear cannot be converted into or enhanced with materia.
* In order to attach materia to a certain piece of equipment, Disciples of the Hand must fulfill the class and level requirements for crafting it.
* It is possible to have others attach materia on your behalf, as long as the gear you wish to enhance is tradable.
We don't know what gear could not be enhance but if untradable gear could be enhance which you need to do it yourself.
