In regards to the 30 minute penalty;

I think being respectful and asking for a kick is the best method. I think the people that "want you to stay the full time or eat a 30 minute penalty" and substantially more unreasonable than anything else. The 30 minute penalty was made to prevent abuse, but instead it is used to hold hostage anyone that doesn't want to have to put up with an hour+ of wipes on a fight that, really, is very easy.

If someone asks to be kicked, I won't try to hold them hostage if they're polite about it. Hell, I've been in the unsavory position of needing to leave a duty because my FC popped on and said "We need you for X" during my roulette.

I'm sorry I can't agree with this at all. If it is a Roulette then you're taking that risk in getting a trial you really really really don't want. If you're not doing roulette, then make your own party.

As soon as you click that join with roulette option, everything that happens from there on out was a choice made by you. This also goes the same for anything you join via the DF.

I believe you're misunderstanding.

I always give it an effort for a few pulls. I do try and clear the content, even with new people, often taking a leadership role in the fights that come. This is not uncommon. But what I'm saying is that if someone puts in the effort, and they see that it will NOT Be a clear, and they feel it is not going to be a clear (As ragequitting would imply, I don't believe people ragequit "because step of faith" but I am sure there is a small minority that do) then I think politely asking for a kick is better than asking for a vote dismissal (Though if it passes, more power to them.)

I have never que'd for a roulette and not tried. That to me would be insulting. But I have asked to be kicked at points because I understand it won't work.

Most often, I hit this point after 30+ minutes of wipes to very simple mechanics. However, it's very rare because there are VERY FEW FIGHTS that those of us with good gear can't carry on.
