It seems to me you already know what you want. If you dont feel like you are YOU while not playing as a Miqote, then maybe that is an answer itself.
I say go for Miqote.

say NO to fatlafel !!!
I switched to lala for a few days a while back, and tanking t13 as a lala is just hilarious.
Also doing /panic before the wild charge in T10 is great.
I would've stayed lala just for the epic emotes, but I felt like going back to catman.
Great! Good to know you've found your true self!
Miqo'te. Friends don't let friends potato.
After playing as a Taru in FFXI and porting it over during the small time I 1.0ed and porting it again... I can't see playing anything else. I always played as my character (not full RP tho) so its an extension of me if you will.
As you can see I love Mi'qotes, but I have problem playing small characters just because I get motion sickness playing one. (I know it sucks since first person gaming is even worse for me). They are both great races though, it is a tough decision.
I can give you a bit of advice from someone who had a similar problem to this:
Make an alt. My character isn't from 1.0, but it's been the same race since I started in 2.0. He's supposed to be a Lalafell version of myself, so I feel like if I changed to any other race he wouldn't really be the same. So whenever I'm inclined to change races (I love Roe male/female and I'm interested in Au'ra when they eventually come out), I go into the character creator and make an alt. Usually I get bored of them immediately, sometimes I just try on end game armor to see what they'd look like in it. After awhile I just delete them and go back to playing my main, because in the end I'd rather play him over anything else.
If you do feel like keeping your alt around, however, you won't need to decide between picking x or y race, as you'll have both!
Wow! Amazingly good advice in this thread! As for making an alt, I have 2 leveled alts but I never play them. My main was so much work to get to the point she is. I just do not want to commit that amount of time to an alt.
I made a decision last night after looking over the pros and cons and all the advice in this thread and here it is:
I will say I'm already feeling nostalgia drawing me back but I'm fighting it! Gonna give my lalafell a real chance a becoming the new me! I'll update if I change my mind again. >< And thank you all again for all the words of wisdom!
