    Question about the future of the Zodiac Braves weapon post Heavensward...

    I have the Lilith Rod Zeta, I'm about 1/2 finished with mahatmas towards my Apocalypse Zeta weapon... however I would like some clarification about what is to be expected to occur after the release of Heavensward with regards to this quest line/line of weapons.

    My understanding is that the Zodiac Braves quest line will end with the conclusion of 2.x... and that the intention of the Devs, is to introduce a "new" questline similar to that of the Zodiac Braves weapon questline.

    If so, I am concerned that the Zeta weapons will become relatively obsolete not too far into the future and everyone that spent hours upon hours of time grinding out these very impressive weapons, will now have to "shelve" them and start a new... or is it the intention of the Devs to allow for some form of "discount" towards those that have received the "Z" title towards the creation of the 3.0 weapons' quest line?

    Any information to set some ease in play, would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Supposedly, we get 'something' when Heavensward drops for our Zeta's. I don't think they've said anything more specific.

    Other than that, I have a sneaking suspicion the new relic weapons are going to look terrible to start off with, just so Zeta owners can continue onward with a glam piece at least.

    From what I understand zodiacs are done and a new quest will start for relics. People who have the zeta will turn it in for some form of progression in the quest. My only concern with this is the millions upon millions of Gil I have sunk into my current weapons. I would be pissed if I lost my det/crit caps for something with skillspeed and parry lol.. Hopefully if you turn them In you will at least be able to keep what stats you have

    Thanks for the responses; seems that there are others with similar concerns, based on the number of posts turning up... may be someone will officially advise us of what the expectations are sooner or later... but dunno.

    To quote myself from another thread 3 days ago;

It is not yet finalized whether it will be identified as a continuation of the 2.x progression or a brand new concept, but it will continue throughout the 3.x expansion, starting at 3.1. For those who have completed Zodiac weapons, they are planning on having some advantage for those players in this new progression. Yoshida mentioned that players should understand, however, since the level cap will be increased to level 60 and with higher item levels, there will of course be new weapons with higher item levels. The new “relic” arc will start at 3.1. We also confirmed that level 51 gear will start below iLevel 135."

    Already discussed in many threads, but here's a link to one of the more recent one;

    This question rises (like phoenix) from the ashes every few days. Basically Yoshi P. says Zeta finishers will have some kind of advantage in the new relic quest, and that the quest starts in 3.1.

    I understand what you're saying, but it's mostly psychological anyway. Consider that if they introduce a fresh weapon that's better than the current Zeta weapons but has no connection. Most people who have a Zeta will begin working on that as well as several people who do not have Zeta weapons. If they merely extended the quest line directly from the Zeta (Zeta required to proceed) a few players will drop off and no new players can hop on.

    For those that continue/ start the new quest there is no real difference. The only difference is exclusivity and some vague feeling that you're still working on the same thing as you have been for over a year now (potentially). If you just consider each upgrade to be a new weapon then it just feels like another new weapon regardless of how they handle it. I imagine it will be a new starting point though primarily to allow new players to get in. Completing all of the previous quests would be too much, especially since the rewards all along the way would no longer be relevant.

    I actually joined this forum just to voice my concern about this whole relic issue. I've been working so hard, and it felt so good to actually work towards an animus...but if you're telling me that it's going to be an entirely new relic weapon, that leaves me a bit disheartened. I'm quite attached to my weapon already, thank you very much. I've sunk much time and gil on it. I really don't want to give it up for a new quest line for an entirely new relic .. Feeling really annoyed

    I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but comparably you'll spend a lot more gil before it's through if you're only on the Animus stage (the only part that requires gil up to Animus is the creation of the initial relic). The biggest potential gil-sink is the Animus -> Novus stage, where you slot in materia for stats;

    Here's an overview of the entire quest;
    http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Zodiac_Weapons

    During the materia slotting phase (Animus to Novus), you can go the "cheap route," by avoiding tier IV materia, but during Nexus to Zodiac you will be spending 400k on npc items, as well as a variable amount on varous Marketboard HQ crafted items required by the quest (if you can't make them yourself).

    I don't know about you, but even it it does become obsolete in June, I've now used my Yoichi Bow Zeta for maybe a month now? And I will continue to use it throughout the months until the expansion. That's almost three full months with a fantastic weapon.

    Also not to mention I think it looks fantastic (despite what p much all my friends say) and I'll probably glamor it over all bows until the next Super Awesome Weapon.
