What are the internal issues of Gridania?

    Ul'dah has the syndicate

Limsa Lominsa has the pirate competition to become the pirate ruler of limsa and also wayward pirates that're against Merlwyb's rule.

    But what about Gridania?

There doesn't seem to be much political turmoil or issues in Gridanian politics. The issues I can think of is that more and more people are poaching. Even wood-wailers are helping poachers for additional money since the elementals are to weak.

Additionally, they don't like duskwight elezens and seeker miqo'te due to them being stereotyped. Not sure how common it is, but in the moogle delivery quest a
wood wailer was planning to raping a seeker miqo'te female

I know one of Kan E Senna's body guards was a Garlean soldier (the guy next to her in this pic) she rescued from Carteneau, so that might be bad

We know that Elementals can be crazy:

    Elezen elitism...

    Padjal envy...

The cult of the Lotus Stand...

Kan E Senna is too attractive and causes many a Gridanian lost work and sleep while they daydream about her...

They cannot see the forest for the trees...

    ...or to put it another way;

They cannot see the wood for the trees...

...missed the pun I should have used following my jest about Kan E Senna being too attractive.

I feel like there was something mentioned about werewolves in the very beginning, but I may be thinking about Dragon Age.

I don't know about warewolves, but I think people who're cursed by the elementals are then forced to become mindless servants of the elementals and are then forced to live in the forests. Forgot the name of those

To clarify, for anyone that thinks there are werewolves in 14, you're thinking of Dragon Age. Specifically, the Dread Wolf that the Dalish (their version of elfs) respect/revere (debatedly) as a God.

I think he means wildlings, who are made mindless when the elementals are angry with a person's woodsin. The greenwrath is the stuff of treants and is basically the elementals rousing the Shroud to kill stuff

Regardless of what he meant, he specifically mentioned thinking of werewolves and referencing Dragon Age :P. It exists in that game, not ours, and I wanted to make sure others didn't get confused. ^^

I would say that there a few things that stood out to me as being the darker side of Gridania.

The first and probably biggest is the one that you alluded to, the having to be very careful about their influence on Nature. Iirc, the people of Gridania were "allowed" to form their city-state there by the elementals/nature spirits and as such Gridanians on their end must uphold the natural balance. People being people however means that there are greedier and more self-serving groups that care only for themselves and not maintaining the natural order and balance and so you get the conflict with the poachers who disrupt the balance for their own selfish gain, which in turn pisses off the elementals who then lash out.

Aside from that, the other one was a heavy dosage of elitism, racism and isolationist tendencies where Gridanians don't seem very fond of outsiders and Wildwood Elezen, of which Gridania probably has the largest population of the city-states, tend to see other races as inferior and often times undeserving.

Those are the main things that stood out to me at least. Beyond those things, yeah Gridania is fairly tame compared to Limsa and Ul'Dah.

The biggest popualtion of Elezeen have Ishgard. It is a Elezeen city. Gridania population was always balanced out between Elezeen and Midlanders, because both already lived together during the Gremorra era.
Gridanias are also less racist and more regionalist.
