What are the internal issues of Gridania?

    Ul'dah has the syndicate

Limsa Lominsa has the pirate competition to become the pirate ruler of limsa and also wayward pirates that're against Merlwyb's rule.

    But what about Gridania?

There doesn't seem to be much political turmoil or issues in Gridanian politics. The issues I can think of is that more and more people are poaching. Even wood-wailers are helping poachers for additional money since the elementals are to weak.

Additionally, they don't like duskwight elezens and seeker miqo'te due to them being stereotyped. Not sure how common it is, but in the moogle delivery quest a
wood wailer was planning to raping a seeker miqo'te female

I know one of Kan E Senna's body guards was a Garlean soldier (the guy next to her in this pic) she rescued from Carteneau, so that might be bad

We know that Elementals can be crazy:

    Elezen elitism...

    Padjal envy...

The cult of the Lotus Stand...

Kan E Senna is too attractive and causes many a Gridanian lost work and sleep while they daydream about her...

They cannot see the forest for the trees...

I feel like there was something mentioned about werewolves in the very beginning, but I may be thinking about Dragon Age.

I would say that there a few things that stood out to me as being the darker side of Gridania.

The first and probably biggest is the one that you alluded to, the having to be very careful about their influence on Nature. Iirc, the people of Gridania were "allowed" to form their city-state there by the elementals/nature spirits and as such Gridanians on their end must uphold the natural balance. People being people however means that there are greedier and more self-serving groups that care only for themselves and not maintaining the natural order and balance and so you get the conflict with the poachers who disrupt the balance for their own selfish gain, which in turn pisses off the elementals who then lash out.

Aside from that, the other one was a heavy dosage of elitism, racism and isolationist tendencies where Gridanians don't seem very fond of outsiders and Wildwood Elezen, of which Gridania probably has the largest population of the city-states, tend to see other races as inferior and often times undeserving.

Those are the main things that stood out to me at least. Beyond those things, yeah Gridania is fairly tame compared to Limsa and Ul'Dah.

I don't know about warewolves, but I think people who're cursed by the elementals are then forced to become mindless servants of the elementals and are then forced to live in the forests. Forgot the name of those

They cannot see the wood for the trees...

...missed the pun I should have used following my jest about Kan E Senna being too attractive.

The racism is particularly frustrating because as someone who chose TA as the free company...one of the symbols (I forget if it was the flag or what) was explained as the teamwork between the Hyur and Elezen to build Gridania in the first place. So I thought they were going to be the least racist. But the attitudes toward Duskwights are pretty terrible.

I didn't know that about Kan-E-Sanna's guard though, that's very interesting. The whole 2.55 plot did make me really think about what sort of turmoil could exist in Gridania story-wise that could be brought out.

I heard a godsbow complaining about the crabgrass, the ul'dah merchants, and how all the adventures are upsetting the natural balance of the shroud. (okay the crabgrass was not really said but they sure seem fixated on things and people all in their proper place)

My understanding is that Gridania's relationship with the elementals is, and always will be, hanging by a thread, and Kan-E and her siblings are pretty much all that stands between them and annihilation. Unfortunately, the elementals are a little too invisible to make for good drama, the Sylphs and Ixal are both toothless as Beast Tribes go, and none of the poacher bands have come anywhere close to the damage one good (bad) pirate crew can cause in Limsa.

I suppose the border with Garlean-occupied Ala Mihgo will become important once the 3.X storyline kicks in, but for now Gridania and the Black Shroud are at the back of the line for story focus.

The extent of Gridania issues is fighting over which tree to hug.

P.S. Its a keeper Miqote. Not a seeker.
