    Steps of Faith and Roullete

Please, please please PLEASE. Take Steps out of the roulette, I'm constantly trying to do this bloody awful trial while contending with the usual utterly ignorant community that don't want to listen and just leave or get kicked, and all that happens is they get replaced by wasters in the roulette who promtly leave again leaving the group stuck in limbo. I know you shouldn't have to because its as simple as any other trial but honestly, the IQ and ability to listen has dropped so far low that unless a miracle happens I wont have this done until the expansions out and the guild comes back.

I agree. I have helped clear this a couple times for FC mates and when people who haven't cleared it listen to how the mechanics work it's fine. But, the other night when I got this nobody would listen. I don't want them to make this fight easier because I love the fact it's mechanic driven. It's much better than the go in and kill kill kill trials. I actually hope they add more trials like it. Just take it out of the roulette for the time being. Add it down the road when more people have got the clear.

I've done this a handful of times with a random DF pug, and they were always successful. You just need to put more effort into helping new players.

Or wait a week or two for people to collectively learn it. It's obviously still a new dungeon for many.

I know imma get flamed for this but maybe just maybe new players need to try to help themselves out instead and learn the jobs and listen instead of queuing in hopes of getting carried?

3 tricks. -1- A S K if someone is new to the fight . it never hurts to be sure everyone is on the same page.-2- E X P L A I N. dont be afraid to give information out, takes 4 maybe 5 minutes to explain a strat and you can correct it if needs show up and its always better than 5 wipes back to back.-3- test it out: even if you spend 10 minutes of adjusting in the first attempt, welcome to new player guiddance, the next try will be better. and it never hurts to make sure player get to udnerstand how things works in this fight, eff YouTube by the way(we dont all live in there in hopes of divine enlightment towards a video game). if you dont want to spend 15 mintues making sure new players get enough infos? make a premade group in your server LS of FC and stop complaining that new players are new to an instance. you sucked at Steps fo faith as well in the start when you didnt knew how to work it around. dont complain on those who are exactly where you were when you started the instance.

approved. I wish we could see some thing like Maat in FFxiv. I never played FFxi, but I've heard about it like the "must know your job" duty. As a solo fight, it would be the perfect road block for people who are only getting carried through the content. Be willing to improve or gtfo leechers

Maybe, just maybe, that is what they are trying to do? Learn the fight? I can watch vids for days but I learn a lot more from two or three failed attempts. This has only been out a few weeks, but then again, people expected everyone to know everything about the fight by the evening the patch was released... gotta love this mentality.

There are other roulette's to do, if you are surprised Steps keeps coming up, then I dont know what to tell you other than avoid the trial roulette.

"you cant do this fight unless you have experience" "But I cant get experience without doing the fight"

In the 4 hours I've had to run this instance to get my first clear, I can tell than many do not bother to try to learn. they just expect to come in and faceroll it by standing mostly idle like every other HM trial (Odin considered Ex difficulty here, you actually have to dodge stuff)

There is no way on earth you can activate AND land the 3 towers and still fail at 60%. There is no way, after being explained the whole fight in precise details, and after experiencing it 2/3 times, that you'll still not use the cannons at all.

Yet that's what I've witnessed for 3 hours straight, in 6 different groups. My last hour in was in a 6/8 new people, 7/8 first kill. BUT people actually listened to the most experienced, tried a few times to get things right (30% first try, 2 tower misses, 10% 2nd try, mage LB, messy on adds, 2% 3rd try, kill on 4th try) and won. They wanted to learn and to do the things right.

TL;DR : people who want to progress will clear the fight, even with a huge majority of first timers. Leechers will remain stuck forever because they have no way to be carried through.

(Though that's not THAT true, as they now queue as healer/tank to be carried)

I am perfectly willing to help new people out but when (as was the case when I was doing this trial in the DF on day 1) people tell you to STFU when you try and explain the mechanics of the fight to them when after you ask if anyone is new and all 7 people say yes that is what makes me rage. Instead of quitting or afking until I am kicked I attempt to help people but am told not to talk because "i am ruining" the trial for them. They wanted to try the fight out by themselves. I think ok whatever, and extra 10 min or so waiting for them to wipe or actually grasp the nuance of the fight. No one uses a cannon. The monk dies 6 times by being stepped on. One tank tries to tank the dragon...the whole time. The DPS other than me and the other tank just tank the adds behind the boss and don't follow him. I wait patiently for someone to actually click on one of the objects (cannon, snare etc.) None of them do. They exclaim confusion as to why the boss is at 80+% health.

The thing about this fight is that it is almost entirely dependant on the execution of mechanics rather than simply tank and spank the boss. After we finally beat the trial (after i got fed up and announced every single time someone had to do something, i had tried to allow independent initiative previously which did not work as people just ran around like chickens with their heads cut off not doing anything at all), half of them thanked me in chat, I got 6 commendations as a DPS, and the one douche swore at me again for ruining the first pull by trying to explain the fight.

Why is it such a foreign concept to some people that other players might want to go into a fight or dungeon blind DAY ONE of a patch? This is actually one of the more enjoyable experiences that SE offers its player base. But there is always that one person that is screaming out mechanics and lording over their precious MINUTE ONE clear by raging at all the "noobs". Congrats! You're king of shit mountain in Trial Roulette. Treat yourself to an ice cream sandwich.
