I think they need to up the bonus tomes and force every player to watch cutscenes. Make it so even with watching the cutscenes it is still worth people's time. Then everyone is on the same page.

Why is this so hard for some to understand?
You have two groups based on needs to be met:
- New Player: Wants to enjoy the normal pace of an instance.
- Farming Player: Wants to finish instance as quickly as possible for XYZ requirement X out of X total.
It isn't rocket science.
Solution:
The developer needs to add options which allow both parties to facilitate their personal needs.
- Add Duty Finder filter/flag to match ques based on the goal of the player queing: Enjoyment or Farm
This saves both parties the headache of wasting each others time or ruining each others time.
Most of you are still approaching this from the simplistic irrational view that one side is wrong whilst the other is right. Both sides have rights in the matter. So what can be done when you have a conflict and both sides can't or are not willing to resolve because it is a detriment to their personal need/want? Enforce a separation. To each his/her own.
Now: Some have said in response to this option that it isn't feasible/efficient codewise and that it will increase the Que times for both sides.
1) You don't know what code SE does or does not have server wise. (This functionality may actuality already be a WIP)
2) Given the increasing frequency of this issue and the threads about it:
This is ultimately what is fair for both parties that refuse to extend their farm time total or skip a cutscene (immersion compromised). In essence this is the outcome you're asking for, a separation because you can't or won't get along.
Otherwise, Use Party Finder. (Some ppl I know actually do this quite often).
Party Finder gives you the option to group with people who wish to only farm or people who wish to have complete immersion cutscene wise (RPing and all that jazz).
To state that Duty Finder is by design ONLY for either party is incorrect and to expect it to be insinuates a separation of goals needs to be enforced.

Or while someone is watching, the others can power up and make the next boss weaker, with doing something when waiting...
On normal runs you do not have tme for that or if all are skipping you do not have time for that...
You know, they are called developers because they have to "create" and not just copy paste from other MMOs

Wow... I didn't mean for my post to lead to all this fighting >_>; I would just like to say thank you to those who have come forward to support me when I needed it, and especially to those who went through these dungeons with me so I could experienced them the way they were meant to be enjoyed. If anyone else ever needs someone to go through with them, don't hesitate to ask me! I'm a tank and I will happily let you watch all the cut scenes you want.

This is what enabled me to watch the cutscenes - tanks and a healer from my DF party told the impatient DPS that there was absolutely nothing wrong with a new player wanting to watch cutscenes.
I would like to see more people in DF (and elsewhere) take the attitude that it's a positive thing to help new players enjoy the game in general and the FFXIV story in particular.

Very few people watch the cut scenes... I took me several months to realize the bad guy was Cid's surrogate father figure.
After awhile I stopped caring about story.
I do not watch them at the inn nor will I ever.
They should have never given the option to skip them if they wanted people to watch I guess...![]()

Not to restart the discussion, but I wanted to say that the last 2 times I've done the main scenario roulette there was 1 new person and both times we all sat and waited while they went through the cutscenes.
One time a bunch of other people were new-ish so we talked strategy. The other time we just spammed emotes.

I've done Castrum Meridanium a few times now. Not as much as others (seriously, why is it such a popular place to grind? Do the people who grind that place suck at every other piece of content?), but the primary reason I avoid it whenever possible is because of jerks like that who pick on rookies. It's disgusting behavior.
I definitely recommend hopping onto Party Finder with this to weed out the jerks.
That's a good question.. I've really only done those twice.. Once to clear for myself and another time as an FC group. The bonus sol is so little, it's not worth it. But you have to remember, all these "jerks" that keep running it despite the miniscule bonus is what keeps the groups going.. If it were up to people like us, there would never be enough groups to get the clears for the people who need them.I've done Castrum Meridanium a few times now.
