If you have to memorize anything, it is not fun and it has nothing to do in game.
FFXIV should be one long corridor and every boss should have manual (how to kill it) above its head.
Good thing FF XIII is on pc now!

Sorry if I missunderstood anyone, that's what I got from this thread.
FFXIV isn't even a challenge man, all you do is read up and then you down things in one go, ITS SO SIMPLE.

Y'all can sit here with your Primals and your easy raids, i'm gonna go get me some real hardcore gaming over at hello kitty online adventure!

This. My group can get to heavensfall no problem, but once we start learning the mechanics, a single screw up means we have to start again, and go through all the stuff just to get back to where we were. It's so frustrating, and BORING.

I'm not asking for the mechanics to be easier - just save us the time that we spend on the first set of phases, especially on fights that give you (and often take) over 10 mins to clear.

I agree, but it might be hard to implement though. It's not exactly a path shortcut.

I feel that no matter how hard a boss is, you should be able to defeat it on your first blind run through skill alone.
^ This made me go lolwut though and I'm not even a raider, I just complete things for the story.

It's this attitude that makes people who are not yet through T5 feel like they are inferior, and why the look at people like me who are simply tackling Final Coil or have beaten it, as if we are all suddenly elite bastards who look down with noses up at every other player in the game.
Indeed, that attitude is one of the reasons there are a large number of players who no longer give a damn about completing any coil turns.

I believe everyone has the exact same reaction when they clear T9 for the first time.

I don't know why but downing T9 for the first time felt more rewarding than downing T13 for the first time...

I still don't get how this design is awful for some people. The system was intended to be time consuming, spending weeks on it and be downed for only a few groups of players, since you required to join a static at first (Not in the 100% of the cases, however). It was designed to be "Extremely difficult", based on Yoshi-p's words. These were fights that were introduced for the "hardcore" players. If it's either easy or hard for you, that's a different matter. That's the main objective of the Binding Coil of Bahamut. So, downing the fight in few tries, goes against the initial goal of that content and it's not going to happen. The level of encounter that OP is proposing is, as many of you pointed out, a utterly nonsense, since Bloodborne (Taking that as an example) was not only designed for a group of 3 players at most, but it was implemented under a completely different gameplay system. That said, people will play the games that they find appealing. If you don't like how this game handles the raid content, there are plenty of games out there that can fulfill your expectations.

In my opinion, statics are actually far less time-consuming than playing the game through PF/DF. Most statics in this game that I've seen only meet 2-3 nights a week for 2-3 hours each night, during which time you can make relatively consistent forward progress. Progress is much slower and much less consistent in PF/DF and whereas with a static you assemble a group once and meet on a schedule, with PF/DF you have to repeatedly spend time assembling new groups.

Many antistatic people act like it isn't possible to have static and family/work/social life. I personally raid 3 times a week in 2 hour sessions from 21:30 to 23:00-30. I know people who raided 2 hours a week in one session and they were able to get to FCOB 1 month after me. Any static, even a static that raids 2 hours a week is faster than pugging it or not raiding at all. Even if there are only 500K players as people say, it is still enough to find another 7 people who are willing to raid at the same time as you.

Well and if you can't even raid 2 hours a week then I am kinda curious how you are able to play at all. (Not including people who have unstable work times. I feel sorry for you, but raiding will always be about static and you are in a minority, so you will have to deal with it. )
