    Congratulations Nobuo Uematsu

Those of us who play final fantasy games have long loved the music in the games.
Each year the classical music station here in the UK, Classic FM, has a Hall of Fame voted on by the listeners. It lists the nations current favourite pieces of classical music.
Alongside the likes of Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Allegri there was a new entry in the top 10.
    Nobuo Uematsu for Final Fantasy.

Congratulations Nobuo Uematsu and everyone involved with music production for SE!

He is a musical genius and totally amazing.

I have enjoyed his music ever since I tried Final Fantasy and I am so glad that others have also appreciated his music and spoken up to add him to their list of favourites!

I really wish they would bring back field themes by Uematsu.
To me they were so much better than current ones. The field themes in this games are 30 second loops compared to the complex strong melodies Uematsu penned.

There is a way to do that Seif, but you will have to search reddit in order to learn how!

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.

I loved that song! This was 1.0's La Noscea Field Theme.

So good! I hope they use it somewhere in 3.0.

    & Congratulations to Uematsu-san!

Considering his was the highest video-game related entry, this makes me happy and proud to be a FF player

Uematsu also makes another appearance at 118 for Blue Dragon I believe.

Nice to see Jeremy Soule at number 13 too.

Think about it, nobody wants to die, there's rules to this game son, I'm justified.

Thanks to the 1.0 Uematsu reminder, here's another great Uematsu track I miss:

    * Twilight over Thanalan (1.0)

I love the "chorus" section around 1:10.

    Congratulations to Nobuo Uematsu.

Nice to see composers of game music getting their due.

It would have been nice to see a mention of Yasunori Mitsuda (also with SE) for his work on games such as Chrono Trigger (also involved Nobuo Uematsu) , Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Xenosaga Episode 1, Soul Sacrifice, and many other games noted for their musical score. Perhaps next time.

The funniest thing is in the comments people leave regarding the selection. Some of the old guard Classic FM listeners, can't quite handle the fact that modern compositions used in video games (of all things!!) might challenge their treasured classics by long deceased masters. Almost as if those older pieces are some how inherently better, when in fact it's simple prejudice against the music because of it's association with video games. Look at the scores of many JRPGs, the effort that goes into the compositions and production, often with full orchestra should leave no doubt that this is real music with as much intrinsic value as anything by a long dead European composer. Art is art.

I'll be biased and mention that Yasunori Mitsuda music in Xenosaga episode 1 is some of the best music I've heard, the combination of his score and the London philharmonic was pretty well magical at times. Then again, there is a *ton* of great music buried within many different JRPGs, the music is simply not well known outside the audience of the games.

Sadly though, there is a popularity contest aspect of this since some of the very best music in games will remain buried simply because the actual games were either not very popular, or only saw a limited release.
