Broken isnt the right way to describe it, It was hastily put together and would have worked perfectly if it was on its own mapI don't really see Slaughter as being broken really. Things only are hectic when mages coordinate LBs and rack those kills in 72. In 24, it's not THAT big of an issue, but it's still there. The other issues I see with PVP personally is Status resists resetting fairly quickly, but there's workarounds. The biggest issue with PVP is Queue Times, PVP Ranks, Skill Point usage and Incentive to keep playing past Rank 44.
I'm pretty sure if the devs had it their way, there would be no PVP at all.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Is there any HAPPY customer in regards of PvP in FF14??
90% of the player base don't even care PvP exists, and the 10% that care are unhappy because it's broken, long queues, 1 sided battles, GC restrictions, ...
Some people are content with it. Others are not. Me personally? There's a lot of improvements to be had, but it's not horrible. SE wanted to enforce the idea of "Representing your GC" which is the reason why there's those GC restrictions(though why they couldn't make a PVP rank and GC Rank is beyond me). Queue system they can just separate between 24 and 72 in some fashion. Nothing can be done about the battle itself. That just matters on the people. Solutions are there. But SE isn't doing anything about it. That's where people are mostly upset about.
It all comes down to the GC-restriction and long Q's. I've spelled this out on the forums a few times now.
If they want PvP to be popular then they need to:
level the playing field by removing GC restrictions
lower the Q times by removing the GC restrictions
The only people that have disagreed with removing the GC restriction are the ones that do not actually PvP. I was expecting some PvP QoL fixes in 2.55. Pretty much any improvement would have made me happy. That did not happen. Obviously PvP is not going to be a priority in June when they release 3.0. So I guess I'm done playing for now. SE can enjoy their Japanese fanbase and their American apologists. Maybe I'll check in at some point down the road.
FFXIV is not a PvP focussed game so improving PvP does not have a very high priority. The fact that there is a vocal PvP faction on this board does not mean there is a large number of people interested in PvP in game; there aren't. People interested in PvP are mostly playing MMOs that focus on PvP. FFXIV serves a different audience. This is not "apologist", it simply a fact. Not every game is for everybody, and FFXIV is made for a PvE crowd, like FFXI before it.

There was a thread under General discussion recently, asking people- Name content you haven't done. PVP/Frontlines was a very frequent answer, and amongst those responses they were like 50/50 between:
- Cause I hate PVP
- Cause of the awful queues
For every person I know who plays it, I know like three more who dabbled in it but gave up after little gameplay because of impact of GC restriction.
Nope, don't believe it. Neither of your samples are any good. One is a self-selected group of respondents who are far more likely to respond if they like PvP. The other is "people you know", which once again is likely heavily biased towards PvP, since that's what you like. There was a thread under General discussion recently, asking people- Name content you haven't done. Though one does not add in a feature into the game and neglect it. You might as well not have put that feature in the first place. Now you have to appeal to an additional audience who really do enjoy that aspect of the game. XIV is PVE focused, yes, but that does not mean it cannot encompass other features and expand upon it. Otherwise there wouldn't be things such as Gold Saucer, TT, PVP, etc. And you really can't say that there isn't actually a interest for the PVP side of things. Otherwise these 72 man battles wouldn't exist. Mind you, this is based on GC limitations and not player limitations.
