    Declining Friend invitation

    Hi,

Could we change this so when I decline a friend invite it doesn't go into pending? This unfortunately does more harm than good. Especially with the rise of gilsellers. It's simply incredibly annoying to have to double decline a friend invite then blacklist.

I can't imagine people find it hard to send a friend invite a second time on an accidental decline versus receiving 30-40 friend invites from GS just to do additional work to get rid of them.

another thread about double confirm on the UI
I agree it's annoying as all hell, just funny how the game has a double and triple confirmation on just about every decision we make, it's like they tried to baby proof the thing..

It really is annoying. It drives me up a wall every time it comes up.

In-city aethernet is still 1 click and free. Whomever designed that; put him/her on point for UI lead.

I wouldn't even mind if it were just a confirmation. As it currently stands, it doesn't even act as though "No" suggests any possibility of maybe wanting to decline the request. Instead, all "No" does is bring up the Friend window. If we want to decline, we still have to choose the name there, select the "Decline" option from its command list, and only THEN do we get the confirmation box asking if we want to decline the invitation, to which we have to say "Yes" before it's declined. It should have figured out that we're declining as soon as we said "No" to accepting it.

    Proper behavior:
"Do you want to accept a Friend request from dsdsd ghghgh" -> select "No" -> Invite is declined.

    non-ideal, but still acceptable behavior:
"Do you want to accept a Friend request from Dsdsd Ghghgh?" -> select "No" -> "Are you sure you want to decline Friendship with Dsdsd Ghghgh?" -> select "Yes" -> Invite is declined.

    Current behavior:
"Do you want to accept a Friend request from Dsdsd Ghghgh?" -> select "No" -> find and select "Dsdsd Ghghgh" from your Friends List, bringing up its context menu -> Select the "Decline" option from the context menu -> "Are you sure you want to decline Friendship with Dsdsd Ghghgh?" -> select "Yes" -> Invite is declined.

This is ridiculous. It's actually a step more complicated to decline a new request than it is to delete someone we've already approved for inclusion in our Friend list.

The biggest problem solver here would be for SE to introduce addons already and let the playerbase take care of our own problems.. Let us MAKE AND USE our own addons and we'll develop (not me, but I'm sure somebody will) an addon that will automatically filter chat and friend requests.. SE has the silver bullet, they just refuse to release it for years now..

And creates many more. Then SE has to police what addons are sanctioned.

    What I'd like to see...
#1. Spam auto-filter: One person blacklists, everyone with the addon blacklists the same user for one day. Downside: False positives.
#2. Friend/Guild spam invite auto-filter: Same as above
#3. One-button-report: Where a screenshot is sent to SE, or a two-step report where the user is reported for something non-spam, and auto fills in the server, zone, user selected, etc.

Not really. You just limit what the API is capable of accessing. There's no need to approve or deny every individual addon.

If an addon comes along that does something degenerate that you didn't think of, you just modify the API so that it doesn't work anymore. For an example of this see Blizzard's response to an addon that projected textures on the ground. They just changed the API so it could no longer determine which direction the camera was facing.. boom problem solved.

Exactly! Blizzard has it right on the UI.

FFXIV:ARR UI is horrendous. Multiple confirmations. Hiding stuff under layers of menus. I regard the friend invite decline as STUPID as the dismount confirmation that used to exist when we ride into city. I bloody hell better want to go into the city if I'm riding into it! I most certainly want to decline the friend request when I click on NO!

I don't really think the UI designer actually played with this UI as a player. There's probably a few minutes of testing the UI and then it's sent into production. Such obvious irritations all littered over the place.
