Is there any way to play the game as DPS? Or just end subscription?

There is nothing else they can do unless they really pull out the stops and give them real like cash and try to make people tank.
Inb4 bad tanks. We may get a little spike because of the new job's but for every 1 tank there is like 500 DPS trying to do the same thing.

To the OP, Dps ques are long in all mmo even here, And it will always be,
And ur not alone game is boring now its beacuse everyone is waiting for new big big expansion.
Once expansion out you will have so much new things to do ingame and it will be soo much fun again.

For now i just playing with friends doing something randomly but play very casualy and doing other irl things aside while waiting for 3.0

For some, such as myself, it's not that they don't want the responsibility, it's that they have a low level of tolerance for douchebaggery when said douchebags get pissy because the new tank/healer didn't perform perfectly on their first try. So they berate the new tank/healer, even encouraging them to no longer touch a tank/healing class ever again.

I'd love to take up healing and/or tanking, becoming decent at it, I just have a low tolerance for spoiled children.

I agree. I've played PLD since the start, and secondary classes are WHM and SCH. I share your feeling about the number of D-bags. Unfortunately, they represent a disproportionately loud and annoying section of the player population....

Still, I find PLD to be enjoyable because It's not about blindly executing a rotation, the same is true for healer. healer is much more reactive, you have to adjust as you go, and depending on how well geared the DPS/healer is, a tank may have to think on their feet to hold aggro sometimes, either way it keeps you on your toes.

DPS queues can be perpetual. Part of a game like this, an MMO, is to make friends and enjoy adventures together. If you look for seclusion in the game, maybe an MMO isn't for you?

Playing with friends will generally speaking solve this issue - as long as some of you are willing to play as tank/healer while others dps.

It's a multiplayer game, not solo, making friends is kind of part of what makes the game actually work.

Pretty much this, all the way. The solo queue thing is there to help people get things done "on their own" and to provide more options to see and experience content (or obtain loot), but there's no direct control over this... and there pretty much never will be, at least until they implement that supposed NPC group for old content that they were talking about, just don't expect that for up-to-date content. The only sense of control that exists with group content in MMORPGs is forming a static or being of a close collective of players wanting to play the games content with you.

The gear for DRG might be a problem, but you can level perfectly well to 50 solo, through levequests, your hunting log, and FATEs. It's not difficult. In fact, doing such solo levelling is a good thing to be doing while you're waiting for your DPS queue.

Incorrect. They said it won't start from level 1, but that it also obviously won't be max level immediately. They didn't say what level it'll start at, but I'm guessing somewhere between 15-30.

Personally, I think it needs to start at level 1.

I've never experienced problems like this in any other MMO before in my 14 years with MMOs.

30 minute waits would've been a *blessing*, as opposed to 4 hours sitting in Jeuno/Whitegate waiting for a party invite as a DPS.

20-30 minute wait time pretty average wait time for dps, when I play dps and it said 10 minute wait I'm like ohhh short queue today cause, but like above quote you must never played FFXI cause those wait times were crazy spend all day lfg as certain jobs.
