    New Scholaring!

Hey guys, not sure if i made a post before on this. But, just got my scholar to lvl 42, and got some fun stuff to play with!
As i'm still learning the ins and outs of the class, i've been spamming Stone Vigil for experience and learning. Here's what i've got so far. Any way i can improve?

(On a random note, to the full hq crafted penta melded, zeta wearing 110 summoner in stone vigil who rolled need on lvl 41 magic user trousers, got them, then said "yeah and what" when i mentioned it, you hurt my soul xD )

    Starter :
    Protect + StoneSkin + Summon Eos/Prep Aetherflow

    Before Adds:
Eye for Eye Tank > Rouse > Fey Illumination > Succor

    Adds pulled:
Whispering Dawn > Swiftcast Selene > Apply light or glow depending on party
Cleric Stance > Apply Dots and Bane (Spamming manual embrace on focus target tank when needed) / Help Dps.

    After Dots applied:
Switched in and out of Cleric to apply adlo + embrace to those who need it, with Physick as an extra back up if falling into danger (Swiftcast in Eos for her buffs when they're back on CD)

    After fight
    Repeat fight prep

    Now, some points:
I don't use many macros. Other than one for embrace to go to focus target, I like to do things manually.
What do i do if main tank is needing some serious heals and my fairy has used embrace already?

My pet actions are on my cross hotbar, which allows me to use them situationally, and allows me to see when each pets' actions are off cooldowns.

I know everyone has their own playstyle, but to me the scholar is about damage mitigation while having the flexibility to add some awesome dps too ^^

I particularly like swifting in fairies for maximum benefit during one mob/boss battle, i don't see many doing this
(Although, as a WHM, i know it's not a great idea endgame to blow the swiftcast this way, might be needed for raises!)

What do you think guys, any way i can improve my playing? (And while i'm not AGAINST macros as a whole, i prefer to learn the job manually before going into much with macros ^-^))

    Appreciate your thoughts and time!

**addition** Of course between all the above, I'm using my aetherflow and energy drain stacks to keep nice and topped up on mana

I wouldn't bother with swapping fairies in 99% of fights. It is a waste of MP and won't make enough of a difference to be worth it. In general: Eos when you are learning content, Selene for everything else.

The main macros I use are <mo> commands on my skills, allowing me to heal by moving my cursor over the person I want to heal in the party bar without switching targets.

When my scholar is level 50 i'm pretty much going to be going into t10 and 11 with it, so it's better that i learn when is good and when isn't good to swap in different fairies ^^

Mouse over sounds fun, but unfortunately i'm a gamepad/console player and that's not changing any time soon xD

I know it's possible to get pretty badass on the gamepad, one of the best scholars i know can deal with both preys alone in t10,while still throwing out heals on the tanks, all from the comfort of a gamepad (Detective Monk, kudos to you mate.)

Agreed on fairy swap. Swiftcast is better reserved for Shadowflare.

I usually prefer Eos for sub-50 dungeons unless both DPS are BLM since Selene's buffs are pretty insignificant when your party has little in the way of skill or spell speed to begin with.

Selene is my go-to for everything else except when Eos' buffs are desired.

I know a lot of folks like to micro-manage their pet (and for some of the heally-rard (see what I did there?) endgame funzies it's needed) but for most content, g'head and let Eos be free!

A bit more on topic; SS + E4E (on tank) + Rouse + Aldo is a solid starter for large single bosses. This will allow you to go offensive and push those DoTs early in the fight. Toss Succor up for adds/blanket AOEs.

If you havnt gotten Thaumaturge up to 26, now is a good time. You'll WANT swiftcast for all the lvl 50 stuff you'll soon be doing.

    Curious: ps3/4 or PC?

Hey man! PS4 player checkin in

And yeaah, although i know it's not full requirement for the micro management, I love the idea of it as a scholar, it gives a bit more play than the "mash cure" skillset of WHM

Yep, got me my swiftcast, WHM is my main Couldn't live without it!

Only if you trust the tank. EOS, I've found so far doing low-level prefers to tank if you leave her on Sic, coming from WHM this seems like a step backwards (as she will throw out Whispering Dawn for no reason, which has the same effect as Medica II's regen) and should probably leave EOS on obey if the tank can't deal with it. Yeah sure she will heal herself too, but it's probably no fun for the tank to constantly keep losing Enmity to the fairy.

No Sic. For any reason. Ever.

If for some reason you want to screw with the tank and have Eos pull aggro, you can accomplish that manually :P

T10 and 11 is Selene all the way. T12 is Selene for P1 and 2, Eos for P3 and 4. I think <mo> still works on console. I believe it allows you to heal your soft target (don't hold me to that though).

Thanks for the fcob advice xD I'm a little anxious about going in there as a fresh scholar. But, healing is healing. I know how to heal, now i just need to know how to be as effective as possible with my scholar healing xD

    Soft target = Focus Target?
Hard Target = Target i'm clicked on?
