The real benefit to using the subtarget arrow is that you only needed to scan through targets related to the action.

If they allowed us to hold down an action and bring up it's subtarget circle, this would make changing targets for a single attack a breeze.

This would take away from that clunky feel that is associated with target switching.

My idea posted above (#7) coupled with this would make targeting a breeze for any action and minimize the sets required to use the specific group target feature. (targeting using these groups selectable with up/down on the d-pad would become more userfriendly).

The idea of specific target groups is whats keeping us from targeting everyone. I think it's an awesome idea. It's flawed cause yes, I targeted the same way as all of you, but with it auto-targeting the closest of that group it would take that step out and I'd have nothing to complain about.
For what you mean in your post #7 is that when you cancel de lock, you may press up and down to change around the party, enemy "channels"?
It's a good idea but then they may need to rebuild the book battle system.
I usually use macros for every action I have, but I think there is people that you play with the 3 basic books of actions. If they change that the way you say, then would't be enough book slots for the massive actions every character can have.
Of course I think they need to change that too.

Great idea you had ^^
