Any class that takes your fancy? they're all pretty simple once you get the hang of them. Why are you after a noob friendly if your a vet? O.o
First I would ask if you are looking to play a tank, healer, or dps? If you're looking for least amount of pressure or responsibility then you'd want to go DPS or otherwise called DD for damage dealer. If thats the case, Archer or Thaumaturge would be the easiest ones to pick up. If you don't mind being a leader and having the pressure of being a tank, Gladiator is a rather simple class to play as far as button pushes and combos. But there are always exceptions and in order for me to give a best possible suggestion, I would need to know what exactly you are trying to achieve in your game.
Gladiator or Marauder. They're both tanks, but trust me on this. Tanking is dead easy, just use AoE enmity abilities as many times as there are mobs in the pull (so, 3 mobs means 3 overpowers/flashes), then use your enmity combo. Mark monsters to try and direct DPS to focus on one target if you're feeling lucky (a lot of DPS are blind). That's about it for tanking.
The plus side is that on the vast majority of bosses you just tank and spank. A lot of boss moves can target anyone BUT the tank, and you generally don't have many special mechanics to deal with.
Pet classes are always a crazy easy way to get new players into content, so I would say Arcanist. Then you get a taste of healing, dps, and even some tanking.
two questions you need to ask yourself is:
Do I want damage or play support or tank? I started this game about 4 days ago (I also played the trial on steam but because I couldn't transfer my character to SE version I started over. I was max level for the trial version). I find healers and tanks, especially for those duty (its like a dungeon/party battle) hard to come by. I play as an archer and waited over 1 hour just to get into a quest related dungeon (this is a story quest dungeon).
After you pick your main role. (you could always change it after level 15? Not sure if it was 15.) Next is your class. Do you want to do melee dps? magic dps? support healer? etc. . . You could get to know the other classes better. I believe there's a wiki somewhere that will tell you everything about the class.
There isn't a noob friendly class but I'm not saying there isn't one. Its more of what you enjoy playing which in result makes it easy
Personal opinion based on my own experience. Archer/Bard is the easiest DPS class. Don't get me wrong, no class/job is difficult, it's just that Bard is by far the easiest to learn the skills and fight whilst dodging. Makes learning mechanics a lot easier.
I didn't choose the PUG life... The PUG life chose me...
Bard is by far the easiest to learn the basics off. It's still hard to master though. Just keep in mind, that building threat in this game takes a few hits, cause the threat generating abilities are later in the combo chain of tanks. So don't be trigger happy.
Nothing worse than an archer that unloads instantly, taking aggro, then kiting the mob around for the rest of the encounter.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

heyi bought the game when it first came out and never really played it due to RL getting in the way. Thanks for all the answers - I'm more inclined to go DPS or Healer or even try a support class - so might give bard ago. The Ninja looked really awesome, not sure how this would be for me though
If you are willing to learn a class, and investigate how to play it, then any dps should be fine. Archer or Lancer would probably be the easiest dps classes to get into. Maybe stay away from monk for now due to the positionals.
