What is the reasoning behing having every low level crafted item avaliable at a vendor?
Doesn't it kill a potential economy?

When life gives you lemons, cry yourself to sleep, and tell all your friends.
Nope, because HQ variants can only be crafted. Still plenty of market to go around.
...Also people tend to buy from the market board before checking vendors. Pretty easy way to profit sometimes.
Easier for new players to get into the game. Check out WoW if you want an example of what goes wrong when ONLY crafters can make it. You learn Glyphs at level 25. At level 25, you probably have 20-40 gold. Glyphs cost HUNDREDS of gold, because no NPCs sell them, so it's up to players to set the price.
The NPC prices aren't super great for items past level 20, and they aren't HQ
It's also good for low level crafters who are leveling and don't get good XP anymore from crafting some low level items.
Like, for example, making cotton cloth doesn't return good xp after a while but you need to make tons of it for the other recipes that DO give good xp. SO! What you do is buy from the vendors to help on efficiency.
It's also nice for when low level stuff is gathering or mining only and those peeps have been lazy.
I prefer HQ items they give a nice advantage over NQ stuff so there's definitely still a market for crafters.
So many people sell stuff for below vendor price on the AH anyway who cares, lol.
If you ever tried crafting in 1.0, where everything was interconnected and nothing was sold on the merchants, you'd understand why.
Moreover, the low level crafted items like hempen yard, hempen cloth, etc. cost more to make than they'd actually be worth.
nobody wants to go out and farm hundreds of low level items to make items they'll never use. In addition, having certain items like iron and copper for sale, items that are used in large quantities for higher level recipes, is an enormous time saver.
Plus it makes sense. Why wouldn't a crafter's guild have materials on hand to get their new members started?
Yeah, that was my reasoning to not bother to craft except for glamour prisms.
But since the game is nearly 2 years old, the prices of <50 crafted items are more than vendors.
