FFXIV should be judged when we have to pay for it, when the dev. team thinks they fixed most of the issues.
None knows the capacities of the development departments so claiming that they have the wrong priorities sounds kind of selfish.

Most of us did pay for the game.. At release and still have yet to have a finished game ..The reason is SE is not charging monthy subs is they dont want to refund everyone who bought our copies at full price or loose more of their playerbase .
Also people are entitled to their oppinion . If you dont like it to bad move on

I started playing when this game first came out, quit, and now started again. They have made enough improvments to the battlecraft lvling system with quests and story quests to keep anyone entertained. I have been having a lot of fun this second time around and the UI is much improved.
The only big problem that can be a game quitter is the crafing system. I'm not like most of you who like to buy there gear and skip around the full scope of the game. I take the time and lvl my battlecraft in conjuction with my crafting to be able to make my own gears, and if I cant make them, I do not use them. This puts you right in the middle of the game where I belive Enix wants you to be. I know if you buy gear, youll never see the true issue with this game which is....
There are not enough rewards for the time spent crafting, you can make gear at lvl 15 (rank 23gear), then nothing good until about lvl 26 (rank 33gear). Those 11 lvls of crafting, although they went the perfect lvling speed, there were simply not enough mid rank rewards. What I'm getting at is there needs to be more gear to craft period. To keep people "on the seat of there chairs" so to say, there should be new, better gear at every 5 rank increments give or take. You know appx. rank 5, 10 ,15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 gear at appropriate crafting rank increments. DONT THINK I MEAN TAKE AWAY THE ANYONE CAN WEAR ANY GEAR THING BECAUSE IM NOT, I REALLY LIKE THAT. Just need to have more of variety, lets face it, if you play it as you should this games about 65%crafting 35%actual battling. Since crafting is the majority of this game its should be your biggest issue to fix.
Second and quickly, get rid of that "your armorcraft is not high enough lvl" "your leatherworkers is not high enough lvl" to craft this item crap. There simply isnt enough inventory space to require your players to lvl every craft, it is impossible and just leads to headaches. As well as the issue that your going to ruin the interaction between different crafters because if everyone is required to have all crafts, why would you even bother buying anything.
Thanks for everyones time.

I guess you're gonna be even more disappointed with crafting once they phase out "optimal rank" gear.
False. Inventory management ftw. People were capable of it before extra retainers, before repair material changes, and before crafting dumb-down, so why is it impossible and why is not easier for you now?

I feel OP's sadness, but as everyone else has realized, if you aren't having fun in a game, quit. Not only you're playing a game that isn't fun for you, you are also spoiling your future experiences in a more updated game. People are rushing like madmen to have all sort of crafting and capped levels on everything to just act smug in endgame, but the majority of the time spent in a mmorpg is leveling up and being a low level, actually achieving things. If you do it all now while it's not fun to do, you're gonna regret it later.

I've been playing the game since CB, and while it still needs work, I think that it is in a much better place than it was even 4-6 months ago. I think the UI is much better than it was months ago... and I think it plays very smoothly with a controller.I don't know why I still try to play this. All the friends I made are gone, I can't begin to find anything fun or rewarding to want to do. I was hopeful that this would be on track a year later, but most of the aspects that made my blood pressure noticeably rise are still a part of this game to this day. Now they're making chocobos and materia systems before they tackle this lousy UI and the horrible time consuming shopping in addition to making gear repairs incredibly frustrating. Their priorities seem lodged in a rut trying to please people for a small bit of time while the dinner on the table goes cold dealing with restrictions on game play to make sure I'm not having too much fun.
I don't feel that the Market Wards are that bad at all. You look for the item, it tells you not only where it is but how much it costs, you mark it and go to the ward and buy it. If I know exactly what I am looking for I can do all of that in about a minute if not less, so I don't understand the 'time consuming shopping' that you speak of.
As for the repairs, everyone complained about all the items needed for repairing and how much space it was taking up so they change it. Now people complain about the new system... this is one of those situations where people are just going to be unhappy no matter what so, oh well. I didn't mind the old system, I don't mind this new system... as long as items get fixed and I can keep going I'm good.
All in all, I'm sorry that you do not enjoy it and I guess you need to decide what is best for you to do. Either take a break and come back later to see if it's better or decide if you've given enough time and you want to move onto something else. None of us can help you with this issue, and we can't make up your mind for you.
I'm going to keep with it until we have to pay, because at this point I'm not loosing anything by staying and I have a good group around me. I'll make my decision when they announce payment's are starting.
One last thing... CHOCOBOS!!!! *luv* Who can hate the fact that Choco's are coming into the game?!
I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.

I agree. I search , mark, warp, buy, and im back to the city and on my way. Perhaps you and I are using it correctly instead of hanging on to the Auction House idea. I loved the AH in ffxi but the only downside of this game not having one is that I dont bother trying to sell stuff. I usually give it away or npc it for less gil when i upgrade.I've been playing the game since CB, and while it still needs work, I think that it is in a much better place than it was even 4-6 months ago. i stooped playing like 2 months ago when i found that the next 2 patches wont include AH, Mail system, LFG system.
grinding SP is not my cup of tea any more, and the repair system is too much time consuming, some times i rage shut down the game because of it.
i might come back when they start talking about these things.

Nice see you around patch 1.61. It seems most of the issues that made you quit are the fine tuning issues which is a strangely refreshing reason to stop playing. Stay tuned perhaps Yoshi P will cover that in Letter from the Producer XXXV.i stooped playing like 2 months ago when i found that the next 2 patches wont include AH, Mail system, LFG system.
