Sorry but using p2w game as an example is a bit exaggerating.Yuck no. Go play Mabinogi to quickly see how fun is inversely proportionate to the rewards. There is a reason why every second event over there is a "AFK-Fishing" event (and the servers being full for hours.) Because it lets people just farm pots and materials they want, and since they are untradeable, people just stock up on what they want and never have to buy anything crafted ever again. I guarantee you people won't bother to buy anything they can stock up from an event. It's not fun for people who miss the event or who would normally gather/craft those things.
Why can there not be events that are done just for fun, vanity or silly titles? Why does everything have to award gear or other items useful to progress? this is a game isn't it? Something we play for fun? the whole point of games it to play for fun, not to play for some form of alternate career progression. We don't all work for Oracle and progress up the ladder by losing to the boss at racquetball....
