I know that it would change prices of materials and materias for a few weeks but then the prices would return to normal, so there will be no permanent harm to economics but the events will be more profitable and will live longer than day or two (because now people get their rewards and mostly don't bother wasting their time for a few allagan pieces).
Yuck no. Go play Mabinogi to quickly see how fun is inversely proportionate to the rewards. There is a reason why every second event over there is a "AFK-Fishing" event (and the servers being full for hours.) Because it lets people just farm pots and materials they want, and since they are untradeable, people just stock up on what they want and never have to buy anything crafted ever again. I guarantee you people won't bother to buy anything they can stock up from an event. It's not fun for people who miss the event or who would normally gather/craft those things.

What i would like to see in events:

    - More transformations.
Transformations ... once everyone has them, they never have any reason to use them. The more or less "correct" way to play with the transformations is to have it work like the mount summon (see Magitek Armor) where when transformed, you only have access to skills available in the "pet bar"'s transformed state. This would also allow for some silly transformations effects that otherwise would make no sense (eg, the "egg throwing")

A second level (partial) transformation could also be possible where it's still possible to play the game as you would normally. In this case it would need to be an actual gear item so it can be equipped/unequipped. For example "feather wings" or "dragon wings" would replace the item in the necklace slot, while something that changes the players head would replace the item in the earrings slot.

But if there is no way to keep the transformations after the event ends, you won't see many people bother. It would actually be better to put such things into a dedicated class that works like an "Esper" (See FF6)

The rampant use of "untradeable" gear makes most events not worth doing unless you personally want the item.

Sorry but using p2w game as an example is a bit exaggerating.

Why does everything have to reward you?

Why can there not be events that are done just for fun, vanity or silly titles? Why does everything have to award gear or other items useful to progress? this is a game isn't it? Something we play for fun? the whole point of games it to play for fun, not to play for some form of alternate career progression. We don't all work for Oracle and progress up the ladder by losing to the boss at racquetball....
