I love my egg floor lamp tyvm!
While I agree the event items have been a bit lackluster lately, I don't agree with your proposed changes. Instead, I'd prefer they put a little more time and effort into the rewards while still keeping them strictly vanity/housing items.
I have yet to find a mmo that has great events, I have tried Aion (in the past), and have always played ffxi, wow and rift, none of which offer great events nor great rewards imo. Out of the ones I play, I would have to give Rift top rating on events I guess.
So .....ffxiv events seem to be in line with the majority of games I have played, some years the ocassional cool thing may be added but mostly they are ALL repeats of last years event, some with the exact rewards even(im looking at you WoW) lol
Mind you I do like the fact they are relatively short in duration in this game, my days of grinding until I puke have been over for a few years now O.o (just have 0 interest in excessive grinding, simply dont like drool inducing content)
As for the rewards themselves, the last 2 have had 1 vanity item and furniture.....again thats a very personal thing, I adore furniture since I do own a home BUT cant enjoy it tooo much having to constantly remove an item to add another with such ridiculous limits.
The vanity stuff?...I love vanity too! but tbh I would prefer a full set of attire every event, yup every event a new set available.
Also not always a joke outfit like the snowman /redindeer/gawdy sugarloaf hat etc... time to add some very stylish outfits for events plz and ty SE!!!
..we are flooded with terrible looking egg hats, horsehead kabutos, an horribly oversized chocobo head, a nerdy valentines outfit..errrr! Its good to have some but not all event clothing has to look foolish Oo...{no thanks}
The swimsuits were a nice idea but should have been plain + dyeable
Also many ppl im sure would prefer minions ...not vanity nor furniture, some would like a mount, or bardings....or a new hairstyle or emote! There are tons of possible ideas but very few seem to make it ingame.
I dont expect to see any improvement to events nor rewards, even once xpac hits, I have a gut feeing this is as good as they get, which is OK..no biggie imo, just something to redo in an hour if you kinda like the current rewards and if not then no loss.
So.... i did the event, grabbed a pair of earrings, and will definately not get any extra eggs .......for a silver piece..
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
The idea of putting vendor trash inside lucky eggs is.... pardon me but, stupid and not fun. Nothing to be excited about, at all. It's like getting a pair of regular socks for Christmas from Santa. Would be much more fun if there were a small chance of a U/U vanity item (no market value) inside. Somehow I managed to get a stack of 99 lucky eggs. Be damned if I bother to open them....

I wouldn't mind the housing items in seasonal events....
IF I ACTUALLY HAD A HOUSING PLOT TO BUY!
Seriously we got 2 months until the expansion and already all of the plots on Cerberus are gone!!!
*stares at the pile of 16 million gil I saved up*
Useless event rewards? Here we go with another selfish entitlement thread. The rewards are glamour items and the eggs drop 10,000 gil coins. Nothing about them is useless.
On a side note though....
Keeping hold of that moon top xmas tree was the best thing I ever did.
*Puts it on the market for 10 million gil, because no one else has it*

You're looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist though.I rather provide feedback and try to find solution benefitable for the most people (these, who dont want to do it more times dont have to, these, who want more rewards, can do it till end) than using empty phrases like "dont like it, dont do it."
I do every event, because I like them, I am just saying that better rewards from the "usable" stuff would make the event more repeat-worthy. Thats all.
The thing about the seasonal events is that anyone can partake in them, from the lowly green-leafed level 5 to the overpowered-and-then-some level 50. The rewards have to be fitting to everyone that's taking part, not just the latter level of participants. As such, it only makes sense that the rewards be little more than glamour bait and floor dressing. I mean, really, how could the green-leafed level 5 ever enjoy a piece of equipment geared for an overpowered-and-then-some level 50? That's a really mean bit of carrot-sticking there, don't you think?
This isn't true, actually. While the principles of each event have remained the same, the circumstances and story behind each even have been different.
Hell even the prizes are different. Last year the easter even had hats, this year they have earrings, just as an example.
It's not like they just flip on a switch, they actually take the time to make each holiday event different from, and accounting for, the previous year.
Also they CANNOT offer anything competitive for limited time events otherwise you really do risk hurting the economy, and they need to keep things scaled since these quests are technically designed for lower level players.
To give an example, the prizes for the regular seasonal events are pretty paltry, but can be done at any level. The lightning event, which rewards an entire outfit and weapons for every single class in addition to a unique hairstyle, actually has a requirement of lvl 44 to complete.
Basically, there needs to be risk involved for the prizes to be better. There's currently no real risk beyond around lvl 35 for most of the events, so there's no reason to make the prizes better.
