It's okay tho, do you feel better for breathing fire?
You made a post called "ABOLISH RANDOM!". You re the one acting like a dictator. What about people who do like the random rule?

Anyways in this thread i only see people who like playing random so far. You should just get good at triple triade instead of yelling for nerfs/mechanics removal.

For instance i really dislike DoL but i wont make a "REMOVE DoL JOBS" tread for that. This game provides a lot of different people with a lot of different contents you cant love them all.

Removing a rule versus removing a job/class are two different things.

    Stop comparing apples to grapefruit.

"Abolish" is a term from FF8, when the Queen of Cards travels around to different cities. You can petition her to add or abolish a rule in the current region that she is in. So "Abolish Random" is what you chose when you want her to get rid of that rule. Just google the phrase and you'll see hundreds of forums threads and FAQs concerning this mechanic in FF8. The OP was just referring to that, and the seemingly overwhelming consensus on the internet that the random rule in FF8 was horrible. Now calm down.

There were many ways to deal with the random rule in FF8. You could delete or convert all of your non-unique cards, meaning that the possible pool of cards in your hand were all powerful (what would count as 5 star in this game). Opponents had card decks with a dozen or more cards, many of them trash, so that random rule would affect NPCs just as much as players. And of course, you could SAVE YOUR GAME after every win, and reload after every loss. That was because you would LOSE CARDS every time you lost, and the NPC opponent would always select your irreplaceable cards and then use them against you in subsequent matches.

In FFXIV, we have no way of dealing with random other than to suffer repeated bad luck. NPCs aren't affected by random either, as Landenel in South Shroud hits me with an Odin + Bahumat combo on this last two turns nearly every time I play him, which isn't even possible for a player built deck. What makes this bearable is that we don't lose cards. Just imagine Landenel stealing all of your Platinum cards and turning them against you... you would never win again.

Now... a possible idea is to have a card game npc using roulette rules in each region. Beating her in a duel would allow you to change the regional rule at random, but only affecting yourself. Essentially it would be like the "abolish random" feature in FF8, with some RNG added to the mix. It would liven things up, make seemingly impossible duels less harsh on certain deck types, and allow you to play some of the rare rule sets if you so choose.

I dislike Random very much in its current state. It's really unfair of you to say "get good at triple triad" when the Random rule, as it currently stands, removes a good amount of skill and is based purely on luck of the draw, especially when it is on an NPC where the NPC does not receive the negative influence of the rule. It needs to be reworked so either the NPC has crappier cards to choose from, or your deck plus the NPC deck becomes whole and you each draw from the two combined decks or something of that sort.

And if the majority of the playerbase likes the said rule because it adds something fresh and unexpected ? Should they remove it just to please some whiner "who finds RNG too unfair"?

The only problem with the random rule is that the NPCs have like 7 total cards in their decks.

Its not really "random" for them.

This, entirely this. The RNG on the card drops from winning is horrid in some cases. The NPCs aren't overwhelmingly difficult, you can beat Tataru, Rowena, and Landenel with 1&2 star cards. To sit there and say "give the NPCs more crappier cards" means you aren't thinking of how to play the game, you just want to overpower with high #'s only. NPC decks are set to where they have 3 decks and they change 1 or 2 cards in each of those decks. Learn their decks, doing this allows you insight on where the cards strong/weak points are, allowing you to bait them for flips/double flips or block them from being used all together. If they had an entire arsenal of cards to choose from you'll never be able to tell what cards they have for that round because "All open" is never in play all the time. At least with them having set decks you know what to expect based on the cards they are using. Just because a deck has low cards doesn't make it impossible to win a match or make it where you're going to lose 100% you can always force a draw and usually get a win if you know the opponents deck and learn to bait their cards out/block their placement patterns to force them to place it someplace else.
