Perhaps Machinist is in response to so many requesting support jobs? Astrologian might be rather support oriented as well. We don't really know much yet.

But anyways... yes, we might not get it as a dedicated role a la some other MMOs, but there's BRD and it seems the devs are adding more, as much as such can fit in XIV anyway.
