What did I do wrong?

Hi all! So long story short... I was in a party and we were in a boss battle.
The healer announced that" I am not going to heal our lancer."(me)
What did i do wrong? I am fairly new at this and i don't want to be a jerk or cause problems.
But what did i do to upset this person? Let me have it! How can I be a help and not anger my party members? Thanks!!

Um, wow. Even if you WERE doing something wrong I'd never outright refuse to heal you...

Did you die a lot? Did you never move out of AOEs? Did you attack wrong targets/different targets than the tank wanted you to? Honestly it sounds like the healer was having a bad day if they wouldn't even help you out.

It is difficult to know what happened without a clearer description, which you probably can't give anyway.

There are plenty of reasons why someone would get mad and not want to heal you, but the most common one would be that you were repeatedly standing in AoE you could have gotten out of.

There's a few gear slots that could use an upgrade, especially the accessories on the right side so make sure to upgrade those and fill in all empty slots as soon as possible. That'll help with dps and survivability, but it's a pretty common mistake for new players because you can level out of gear before you realize it. You do have a lot of empty slots and lvl 1 accs though.

Only other thing I can think of is if you're not moving out of aoe's fast enough, or if you're hitting the wrong mob (in which case the tank could just start marking the ones he wants the dps on in the order he wants to kill them if it was a major problem). Those things take a little bit of practice sometimes, but it kind of makes me want to blame the healer more than you since they chose to insult and "punish" you rather than give any explanation what you're even doing wrong. Then again, I wasn't there so I have no real way of knowing if they tried to.

I don't know but the healer shouldn't be an outright jerk like that.
Even if you were doing something wrong, like standing in AOEs or hitting the wrong mobs, etc, the healer should do his best to keep the pt alive.
You seem like the type who would listen to others in a dungeon - as evidenced by you being here and asking for help- so if you were doing something wrong the healer should have tried to help you out instead of behaving like a princess.

only reason I would give up healing a dps is if they don't even move to try and dodge an incoming aoe.. if they just stand still expecting me to babysit them, then my motivation for trying to top off their hp kinda goes away.. I still wouldn't let you die though, I'd just keep it at around 30-50% so you actually start to move around and dodge things.. But yeah, without a clearer description we really can't tell you why a healer would refuse to heal you.

idk if I've outright said/not healed someone. Some players just don't know and I like to give the benefit of the doubt on it. I had a tank once that actually didn't know what an aoe was, thus eating everyone of them and I did explain it very nicely after finding this out. A lot of players I've run into haven't done an mmo before and a lot of things are new to them. Did you ask them why? That would give you the best chance of knowing what you did wrong so you can avoid it in the future.

I find it hard to imagine there's anything at level 23 which could cause such a tantrum in terms of failing on mechanics and stuff... Sometimes tanks and healers just like to think they're better than everyone else, and if they'd not given any comment on your performance prior to that (even if it was just "stop standing in AOEs ffs") it's weird to suddenly throw a hissy fit at the end of a dungeon like that.

Maybe he didn't think you were pulling your weight against other synced-down players, maybe he'd been quietly raging for the entire dungeon over something you were doing wrong because you didn't know better, maybe he was just a dick. You meet all sorts in dungeon finder, for better or worse.

Hmm. Others have pretty much said it. Probably not avoiding AoEs or standing in front of mobs, possibly your damage was low. But no matter what it was, it's ridiculous for them to rage when you're only level 23 or thereabouts.

The dungeons at that level are really easy to heal even with a lot of mistakes (they're meant to give a lot of leeway for people to learn). There's not really anything in them that's a serious threat... so yeah, that healer was a jerk.

If you want to go the extra mile for improvement... have a friend come with you and see if they notice anything.
