I definitely agree with that. Honestly I just want to see RDM/BLU and Samurai, but like someone else above said NOT exactly like the FFXI version, but either closer to the originals or more creatively done with a slight new twist.
On the flipside, the idea of a RDM is "guy with a sword that has access to magic", so all it would take is an MMORPG take on that concept. It doesn't have to (and IMO shouldn't) be a support class.I'm good with Rdm not being in this game.
Unless they rearrange entire party setup / armory system / everything and add a true support class, the limited roles are going to limit jobs beyond the triad. Our community lacks the understanding for this game to work like xi did. Sorry rdms....
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
White Mage, Black Mage, Warrior, and Monk are all in FF original. They are in XIV too. What harm would it do to add another classic. Besides they are adding new jobs in Heavensward. No doubt we'll see those before we see Red Mage, but the important thing is that we do get to see a RDMIn the end, WILL it play like a RDM?
This is an entirely different game and some (or most) jobs have a different playstyle from their origins.
Take SMN for example, it's a disease specialist (with a egi it can control)
BLM just just spams Fire, using ice to recover mp
I'd rather they focus on new jobs rather than bringing in old jobs that barely resemble their origin
Everyone's missing the most important role the RDM had throughout the FF series, including XI: The wearer of the Hat. No matter what game, RDM have always been known by their distinctive hat. Sadly, BRD seems to be the one wearing the hat now. I'm not sure there's room in the game for two chapeaus of the proper stature.
(Mostly joking, but the look is an important part of the class for me)
I think most of us are in agreement there. I won't be happy if they decide to do what Bravely Default did to Red Mage (really, why the hell do they look like flamenco dancers instead of, well, Red Mages?).Everyone's missing the most important role the RDM had throughout the FF series, including XI: The wearer of the Hat. Cant disagree more.
This game is not only for people who played all the other FF before. It hits a new playerbase so please let ARR have its own personality.
I prefer if the new jobs have new concepts. This way, in 20 years, whiners on the FF28 forums would be able to "i want old school astrologian from FF14 pleaaaaase"
Final Fantasy won't make it to 28 I don't think. I've heard that SE is ending it at XVI, that they're branching off to something new, idk. I'm all for having new jobs, but since this is still FF, it wouldn't hurt to have the old jobs too, which they mostly do anyway. I mean I think every job from the original FF was used except Red Mage. RDM was the only one not used yet. They also have tons of new jobs. Summoner is actually an idea from FFX or earlier than that. Since this is an MMO and they're constantly adding patches, I think it's safe to say we have tons of jobs we have yet to see, most of them are completely new. So I still stick with my idea.
Indeed, RDM is missing from the original. And before some silly cries "there's no thief!", ROGUE IS THIEF. THEY STATE IT IN THE ROGUE STORY QUESTS.Final Fantasy won't make it to 28 I don't think. In other news, Capcom is killing off Street Fighter, Activision is ending the Call of Duty franchise, and Nintendo has decided to stop making games altogether and focus on Microwave ovens or something.
Yeah, astrologian was a very lame decision and to be honest it just felt like they got yet another robe wearing healer just so they would not have to design another set of gear or even put other stats on one type of gear they already have. There were so many options they could have gone with that would have made a lot more sense from a variations perspective as well as what the players wanted.
As for RDM it would be cool to see them implement it. There are several of the more classical jobs that are really missing in the game atm and I hope they start focusing on those now. As for RDM in particular I hope they make an exact copy of XI RDM just so we can get another ten years of people whining about how the manual says it should be more melee.
