The importance of Endurance in Chocobo Racing

I've been guilty of increasing only the Speed and Stamina of my Chocobo. After all they were the two most important stats right? Well wrong. It might be obvious to some people but I didn't know this at all, obliviously pumping Speed/Stamina and wondering why I wasn't doing remarkably better.

That was until I decided to raise my lagging Endurance. Only then did my overall speed and performance improve in races. I realized too late (P9 now) that I've been messing up my Chocobo all along. Here's what Endurance does:

Assuming you have 200 points to distribute between Speed and Endurance, this is what happens.

If you had increased them both equally, you would squeeze the most amount of speed with the stamina that you have.

If you neglect your Endurance (like I did), you're actually limiting yourself. You'll find that you'll hit lathered state without going any faster.

This is useful for people leveling up their birds. At least you know what stats to put into now!

nice find, ill definitely try this on my next chocobo. however, right now im still doing great with stamina + speed + holding W almost all race. if your stats + abilities allow you to be lathered all race, then endurance would be pretty much useless right? Most people complain about stamina drain though, so this could be the solution.

Yeah under the text for endurance it says it allows your chocobo to run longer before getting the lathe debuff but that is not true at all since I took a 1 star in endurance and lose all stamina with 25% of the course left so there is more to the stat then the game lets on.

I noticed this with my last bird, as the stats distributed somewhat evenly whenever I ranked up. I always figured that the stats would play into each other somehow, but I guess you really won't notice or care about it TOO much until higher pedigrees and races, which would explain why the Max Speed and Stamina suggestions came to be. Not to mention the obviously lacking Cunning stat lol, at least pre-2.55... not sure how much of a difference it makes now.

Focus on this.... stamina, speed, endurance, cunning, acceleration. In that order... it is debatable which of the last 2 is better than the other but I feel cunning is the stronger essentially you want to be able to let go of "W" lose lather and hit "W" again to keep going.

In other news... perfect bird... soooooooooooooon (I'd hide my name but is it nessecary when no other names are displayed??)

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.

im still not sure about the last 3 stats (endurance, acceleration and cunning). Endurance seems to be really important if you want to avoid lathered. But when i look for R-300 videos i always see them perma-sprinting and people said that you cant really keep up with the npcs otherwise. My idea was to get 2 stamina recovering abilities and go with the perma-sprint build. Acceleration might be better then to make up for not having headstart and to speed up after heavy, but im not sure... does endurance also lower stamina consumption while lathered? then it would be clearly better.
