I want to start soon with a char, that will get Au Ra by using Phantasia right after the expansion hits.

Hope you know the phantasia does not have the power to allow you to edit your name. Even tho i'm changing to Au'ra and would love to make a Au'Ra name i like my name been using it for a long time in ffxiv.
But a dev said they would like to release this later on i think they said they want to try before the release.
Thats the reason, I'm asking for name rules. I want create and level up a new char with the final Au Ra name and after expansion hits, finish it with Phantasia. As the new jobs are gated behind 2.55 story, there is no reason for me to wait.

I see i myself made a alt but i just name it the same zenaku yamada playing with some real life friends on that world. But ya i don't think we have au'ra name rules anytime soon. maybe in a month or so if your super lucky maybe they pop in and give it to us sometime this month.

If we're REALLY lucky, it may get revealed around the time of benchmark when we can play with the character creation.

As seen in the much bigger Au Ra thread here:
We haven't gotten any more information than that on the timing of the names, though I imagine we'd probably get that after we get some actual background information about them.3. When are we going to get a naming guide!? I need to start thinking of what I'm going to call the new character I roll in June!
The naming rules for both clans have been finalized and work is being done fleshing out the lore behind it all. Things will be somewhat similar to what was done with the Hyur (drawing from historic names) but the with the regional and linguistic roots being completely different. Surnames will also feature a special set of rules that can be followed to the T, or slightly modified if a player wants to be adventurous.
I will be adding a detailed (sticky) explanation right here to the forums once Yoshi-P has given me the green light...which hopefully will be sooner than later!
It makes sense that the rules would be posted around the benchmark. I believe it will be somewhere between April 11th (live letter) and April 23rd (to give 2 months exactly before 3.0 but still plenty of time to level to 50 on someone new)
"Welcome to the ranks of the blue mages. However, at this moment you are but an empty vessel--a base creature, weaker than the most ordinary mortal. A blue mage must wrest her strength and vitality from her enemies. Show me your hunger for unrivaled power! This is the only guidance I shall give you."

This is me throwing a blind guess, but I think one of the sub races are going to have Norse naming conventions. Au Ra are half dragons, and all notable dragons (at least from Dravania) have Nordic names. Midgardsormr, Nidhogg, Vishap, that's just my theory.
They, uh, posted them yesterday morning. Check the sticky. c_c
Raen = Old-timey Japanese
Xaela = Mongolian with hilarious tribal lore
The tribal lore isn't hilarious! Tribal peoples often had customs that seem strange from a modern perspective, but it's totally normal to them!
Well OK, maybe some of it is a little funny.
