Work on your backlog of games. I still play XIV a fair bit (Currently working on BLM Novus), but cutting down to get through a stack of PS4/PS3 games which keeps growing...
Their is still plenty for me to do. My zodiac grind and then getting the gil needed to get the crafting mats for it. I have enough to keep me busy till Heavensward. ^^
Sorry, I'm just still wrestling with the concept that suddenly all my gear has become worthless because they've released a new expansion. How does that work exactly? Does my level 130 gear suddenly become level 50 or do mystical monkeys make it unequippable?
With new quests and locations comes higher ilvl requirements. Oh, and just for the record the new level 51+ gear doesn't automatically become level 130 or higher. It'll follow a natural progression as with other gear, with newer high-end gear ultimately offered as rewards for the new high-end content.
Granted, I'm not as much of a fan of the 'gear treadmill', but the new skills and locations offered by the expansion are sure to keep me busy throughout, so I probably won't even be thinking about it as much. As cliché as it is, I'd take some of the advice in this thread. If you're burnt out playing the game, then simply stop playing the game.
Once a game stops being fun, it's time to take a step back and enjoy something else in life. It will still be here if you decide to return.
Blacksmith actually makes decent money by making artisan off hands.. But that's beside the point, crafting 3star+ can't be a specialized effort and you need to do all of them. By the sounds of it, you don't really like crafting all that much and I don't think there's a reason for you to pursue it.
For me, I'm just trying to save up gil for the FC airship. Other than that, I'm just playing like I normally do, while trying to catch up on MSQ and working on my alt (crafter only deal, you don't really need one) in my spare time. Clearing some pve content.
Remember this though, if you haven't cleared all the raids and duties yet, come Heavensward, you'll probably never get to experience them as they're meant to be.. Since everyone will be horribly overgeared and lvl sync'd down for the old content. So if you haven't done those and you have any interest in them, I'd suggest you do it. Not for the gear, but because this will likely be your only chance to experience them.
The irony is that the costs involved to get to 3-star on every craft exceed any profits you're likely to make from it. Prices are constantly being flattened by those who had the initial capital to hit 3-star early on and are now progressing through 4-star crafts.Blacksmith actually makes decent money by making artisan off hands.. Unless you had the early advantage (ie, being rich), getting a foothold in the market is an expensive and long-term investment. And yes, I'm a 3-star crafter myself working on 4-star for weaver currently.
Crafting and gathering.
Forever.
That is true and off-topic but I'll add my two cents.
The reason that model fails to make you money is because you're playing your part in a pyramid. The top tier get all the money because well, everybody below them is their customer hence generating revenue for them. Second tier of crafters have people in tier 3 to sell to, PLUS competition from the top tier, and occasionally need to feed more money into tier 1.. Third tier, has to compete against Tiers 1 and 2 and has an even narrower customer base.
How can you work around this? Simple, sell something that EVERY crafter needs, 4 stars or 2 stars. Make the 4 star crafters open up their wallets and spend their money.. This is hard to do because they can literally make just about everything on their own.. So where can you find their weak spots? Time! and.. RNG!
Specialize in items that are tedious and time consuming with heavy RNG influence. If you can find an item that meets the criteria and has high demand from crafters and you can make ALL the crafters your customers because not everybody wants to do the dirty work of crafting for hours just to have RNG screw you over![]()

What you do will always be useless by the time the next expansion is out. Why even play with that logic?I thought so, the has RP gotten dull, I would let my sub end but I WANT THAT FINAL FANTASY CLOUD OUTFIT *DROOLS* so I'll let it keep taking my money so I can get closer to that goal. I guess I might as well pillars of eternity or play ESO since that game is free and has a good story to tell.
I really wanted to do something here on this game without it being useless when the xpac comes out xD
It's only worth it if you know what you're doing. The irony is that the costs involved to get to 3-star on every craft exceed any profits you're likely to make from it. I was making a million gil every 3 days back when 4 star crafts first came out, those artisan pants and then the artisan body sold so well...but now everyone's a 4 star weaver so prices have sunk. Still good money though.

I don't think I'll feel like you until I have my Large House in the Mist fully furnished and all my gatherers/crafts to 3stars/4stars.
Everything is bearable with music
